MANILA, Philippines (CNN) -- The FBI was warned six years ago of a terrorist plot to hijack commercial planes and slam them into the Pentagon, the CIA headquarters and other buildings, Philippine investigators told CNN.

Philippine authorities learned of the plot after a small fire in a Manila apartment, which turned out to be the hideout of Ramzi Yousef, who was later convicted for his role in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Yousef escaped at the time, but agents caught his right-hand man, Abdul Hakim Murad, who told them a chilling tale.

Yeah, right. Too bad Clinton didn't work with the congress consistently and helpfully instead of constantly dissing and lying and stonewalling the leaders. Too bad he flung missiles at Afganistan and the Sudan without ever giving a reasoning, well-thought out explanation to either the public or Congress.

If he had acted more responsibly and less like a petulant adolescent, Congress may have taken him more seriously on the terrorism issue. And, by the way, missile defense is still a major need for our national security.

This is the damning part. It's one thing to overlook general information. It can get buried in the slush pile. It's quite another thing to ignore any information connected to a convicted and confessing bomb terrorist. To ignore this is to cross your fingers and hope the tragedy happens. It is obviously a deliberate attempt to pave the way for another photo-op, exploiting the tragedy of others like some hopeful buzzard circling the sky and sniffing for signs of death.
