I just clicked onto the Dose for 9/14 and saw that pic. I don't know how I missed it last Friday. What an awesome picture, and shows you the humanity of Pres. Bush. He can touch people so gently and let them know he cares and is concerned. And the three of them all together gives the world such a picture of unity.
I saw an interview on Sunday with the man who is standing up on the truck with Pres. Bush during that appearance in NY. He was a retired fireman, Bob Beckwith(I think that is the right name), who came down to help because he learned the fireman son of a friend was missing. He said he couldn't see the President, but he was on top of the truck when a SS agent asked him if the truck was stable. He jumped up and down and said it was. The agent told him that someone was coming over, and he was to help him up onto the truck then get right down. He said he was stunned when he reached down and pulled Pres. Bush up! And when he moved to get down, he said Pres. Bush asked him "Where are you going"? When Mr. Beckwith told him what the agent had said, Pres. Bush told him to stay right there. The man was so honored being up there with the Pres. and didn't even realize he was on TV! The cameras were farther away and he didn't see them. He was such a humble man, and said that he remarked to the Pres. "Pretty rough couple of days, huh?" and when the Pres. said "Yes", Mr. Beckwith told him he'd better be sure to take care of himself! He was so sweet!
