The "Pacifists" are coming out of the woodwork
campus bulletin boards ^ | 17 Sept 2001 | unknown juvenile twits

Okay, my first question is-- WHO DO THEY THINK THEY'RE KIDDING?! Let me put this into context: this is the text of a flyer that's being posted around the campus where I attend graduate school:

WAR IS TERRORISM

Contact your Congressmen and speak out against unneeded and violent retaliation. The lives of foreign peoples [sic] and US soldiers will not bring back those lost in the recent tragedy in New York.
For more information about US foreign policy and the events that have taken place in the US and abroad, refer to the following websites:
www.indymedia.org
www.zmag.org
www.wtowatch.org
www.globalexchange.org
www.wto.org
www.protest.net
www.slashdot.org
Throughout the 20th Century violence and military might has been used to curb international terrorism. It hasn't worked. We need a new solution for a new century. Let's show that America has learned something from Vietnam, from Libya, from Iraq, from Israel, and Afghanistan.
Above all, don't listen to CNN and the major news networks. They say we are at war. They say that this is the new Pearl Harbor. Inform yourself. Terrorism is not new. Learn from the mistakes of the past.
Keep yourself informed and inform Congress in turn. The only way we can prevent needless violence is through active protest.
[emphasis mine]

I won't even address the appalling sentence structure and composition (and this is one of the better schools... sheesh...)-- that last line gets me. What, d'ya think suicidal religious fanatics are going to pay attention to a few flyers and some nude picketing?! The sheer assininity of kids these days floors me... Didn't bother to check out the links, but I speculate it's more of the same...

So my question to the rest of y'all is, how much anti-war rhetoric have you come across so far?

The longer they are allowed to get up steam the harder it will be to wage a war which is what needs to be done.

There are advantages to declaring war and engaging in an immediate strike. To some degree you take the enemy by surprise, you don't allow them much time to re-group. What's more important however, is taking advantage of real, immediate responses of outrage and patriotism. More people enlisting, more home base support. When you let time go by those advantages begin to wane and it doesn't take very long.

If these losers had been in the majority in 1941, their sisters would have been made into "comfort women" for the Japanese Imperial Army.

They would have been the towel boys, grinning for tips.

For right now, I think I'll content myself with taking out undergraduates in the crosswalks... [smoosh] Gotcha.

Ah, I see. Dropping those weighty physics textbooks on 'em from the 5th floor dorm room, huh? ( ;

PINO Robert Drinan is out of the closet, so to speak.

(That's Priest in Name Only and if you're offended, well you know what you can do.)

There are three levels to those seeking to disarm us:

THE LEFT RADICALS: Members and hangers-on of the marxist intellegensia who hate the US. They have ceaslessly slandered and spread slander about the US around the world. (For example, a lie that has hurt us grievously in the middle east has been that the US killed 100,000 non-combatant civilians in the Desert Storm Operation, a slander originated by the KGB.

DEEPLY RELIGIOUS, mainly Bhuddist and Catholic. They obviously do not have to worry about what kind of a world their children live in. They have none.

PEOPLE OF SIMPLE MINDED GOODWILL - I wish to God I could live in their wonderfully naieve world, These people are characterized by the young woman who ran towards the Texas (University) Tower, crying out, "We love you! (She was shot dead as were those who tried to help her)" If we do nothing, we had be better be prepared to accept the Talibanization of the world.

Truly I have been amazed at the patriotism shown here in Vermont. It would appear that the homes and vehicles NOT flying the flag are in the minority. So far, that lack of the colors of freedom is the most I've seen of resistence to the war effort.

We are a gun-totin' folk up here, maxwell. We like big bangs and the smell of gun powder...'specially in the fall. ( ;

<sermon>Ok I'm not a pacifist, I believe in self-defense. But lets not lump everyone who wears the label pacifist together.

Lets not confuse these leftists who while lacking the courage to do it themselves feel completely justified in sending armed troops/police to do their bidding if the cause is sufficiently PC and real pacifists like the Amish who have a deep and abiding and consistently pricipled opposition to violence.</sermon>

All anti war demonstrators are communists and should be treated as such.

Yep! The WTO has cancelled everything for the DC protest and all. We're happy out here about that. The protestors started bailing out last week according to our local TV station.

I cut U of M out of my will and I believe that witholding $ is the only way to get college execs to deal with the leftover garbage from aquarious.

I applaud your action, however, whichever U of M (Michigan, Maryland, Minnesota, et al, they get their primary support from the state, i.e. the taxpayers. Our ultimate goal has to be to get the taxpayers to flush out all multi-culturalism, all "peaceniks", all anti-Americans.

Just how ridiculous is it for Americans to be funding these enemies of America? We are paying for our own funeral.

Yes, I'm battling with one now on another board. He's pulling the "What Would Gandhi Do?" schtick complete with Gandhi quotes. I just called him a "Little Chihuaua" and then apologized to the Chihuahuas of the World.

You obviously do not know the war-ready Bhuddists and Catholics that I know. BTW, I am deeply religious and so was King David of the Old Testament, and BOTH he and I were/are/always will be prepared to fight any Goliath, any invader, any terrorist. Praise the Lord! Pass the ammo!

Thank you for your insights. This particular Nun is usually a spitfire, no-nonsense (hates the term PC) and popular figure, from what I understand. I know that Catholics are obligated to follow the church's (Pope's) position on issues and it concerned me greatly that pacifism was the RC official position on handling terrorists. Doing some soul-searching...and trying to understand the feminization of the RC church (whoops, repenting and asking for forgiveness).

I don't see much pacifism here. Maybe we should quickly send the liberals to NY and a few other states and just turn them over to Osama bin Laden. He and his cohorts would clean up a few things about the liberals we can't stand anyhow. The quivering boys in lavender would have to start acting like men real quick and the lesbian feminist would find their femininity serving their sheihks in a harem. Let Rather and Jennings become the official press agents of Saddam Hussein, see how long they last if they turn the mike out for 15 minutes on him.

Maybe the right should come out very quickly and say that since the Islamics did this to NY and NY is too liberal for us to defend, they are on their own. And tell them we'll give Hollywood to the Islamics too.

Pacifism is EVIL and COWARDLY. It is EVIL since it allows the evil to flourish over good. It is COWARDLY since it absolves it's followers from the consequenses of their actions (or inaction) while smugly asserting moral superiority. Try telling a pacifist that they are advocating an EVIL philosophy sometime. They really don't know how to respond.
