There is no more wiggle room for Muslims

To Muslim citizens of the world: Americans appreciate the public condemnations of the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., made by many of your political and religious leaders. It is heartening to know that much of the world stands in solidarity against such barbarism.

But there is something lacking in these condemnations. In some cases, the spokesperson notes that Islam should not be singled out because there are fanatical terrorists of all religious stripes. In other cases, he or she states that we have to understand that the Americans have somehow brought this on themselves.

I would demand that potential immigrants read, write and speak English proficiently

How about deporting anyone who is incapable of comprehending the following sentence?

NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racist or violence posts

Second, every Muslim and Arab should undergo a background check to find any connection to any anti-American group.

Great! Start with the NBA, then Mohammed Ali and his daughter Layla.

If they are found to have a friend of a friend who knew someone in any group, they should be deported.

Right on! that would be, what? a few million deportees? Of course some of those "friends of friends who knew someone" would be entire neighborhoods of people who have nothing at all to do with this, are not Muslim, nor Arab, but would be deported even though they are Americans. But that is, I am sure, a small price to pay for security. South Florida is a good place to start. Then Boston. After Boston is deported to God knows where, we can deport New York city. After a short while just the Native Americans on the reservations would be left and they will be happy. Then it is true even some of them might have a "friend of a friend who knew someone in any group" and would have to be deported, I guess back to east Asia.

hey! wait! How do we know you don't have a "friend of a friend who knew someone in any group"???? Let's start this background check/deportation on you and your family. I bet you have a friend somewhere who has a friend who knows someone in a group. They say it is only 6 steps of contact that seperate us from anyone else in the world. It certainly be much less if you are in the same country.

Islam is the fastest growing religion, in the world and in the USA.

yes, out numbers Jews, Lutherans, Baptists, etc. in the USA. Do you think some of those muslims just might in fact be loyal US citizens who have been in this country for generations or are converts? Naw.

it is just amazing to see the idiocy that follows when people can't think. Blame the US educational system I guess.

Do you believe we should bring more Arabs and Muslims into the United States after their track record on national and international terrorism?

What a great editorial. A

s a Chicagoan I read the trib every day for years before being so disappointed I dropped my subscription. I must tell you I am shocked big time. The last I remember it, trib had become of late a PC propaganda machine. Perhaps there is still some common sense there that sneeked when the PC fascists weren't looking.

THe trib will probably now recieve truckfulls of PC hate mail, and apologize for the column. But hey it was fun while it lasted.

How about revoking all green cards and visas from individuals who carry Egyptian, Sudanese, Libyan, Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi, Iranian, Afghani, Saudi, and Yemeni passports and immediately deporting all of them as enemy nationals?

Certainly, we're within our rights to determine who can visit the United States, aren't we? Or do you believe that we should have no control over our borders?

Sixth and most important of all, I would demand that in order to be eligible to obtain a visa to emigrate to America that potential immigrants must be a "Christian," any kind of "Christian." Using and defining the term "Christian" in the broadest sense possible. Potential Immigrants must be Orthodox, Anglican, Catholic or Protestant, or even members of western "Christian" cults such as the Mormon church or Jehovah Witness'es. Potential immigrants must prove this with documentable evidence of faithful membership in such a church in their own nation for at least 10 years prior to their application to emigrate to America.

Whic part of the following do you fail to understand?

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

For one thing, if I were in charge, I'd pull the visas of any Arab middle easterners here and send them packing yesterday.

So, no Jews in your America I guess.

What are you going to do about "Christians" like the Tim McVeighs' who live here and terrorize their fellow citizens?

You lost all credibility with the ridiculous paragraph above.

There is no reason to import persons who have repeatedly proven they are willing to harm us because of their religious or political ideology.

If people of a particular Christian nation came here and began killing our people, it would only be right to stop allowing those people in and I would support such action.

We will deal appropriately with our own within our nation.

It is better to be politically incorrect and alive than to be politically correct and dead.

So if some White Christians commit a crime are you out there finding them and killing them and their supporters?

What happened last Tuesday wasn't a "crime," it was an act of war.

And, yes, if some contingent of Roman Catholicism were making war on mine or another country, I'd be strangling the bastards with my bare hands.

The IRA comes to mind. Members of that nefarious group should be shot on sight.

Please show me were in the constitution it says we must let mass waves of immigrants in to our county, how ever it dose talk about defending our boards. Fighting terrorism starts here at home. Extreme individuals with extreme ideologies requires extreme measure. If your finger is infected cut it off, if your arm is infected cut it off before it kills your body. This is what needs to be done KILL IT AND CUT IT OFF.

Every major religion is faced with this problem. Those of reason must always be vigilant and fight the extremists within their own faith. Be they fundamentalist Christians who kill abortion providers in the name of God or ultraorthodox Jews who would turn Israel into an intolerant theocratic state or militant Sikhs and Hindus who carry their ongoing war of hate throughout the world, they must be constantly challenged and thwarted by those of reason within each faith.

Thanks for the post. Fantastic read! We must police ourselves, or someone will do it for us.

There are more than six million Muslims living in the USA today.

Without question if this group includes any illegal aliens they should be deported immediately. Those aliens who are here legally should immediately have their visas reviewed. Any alien who openly opposes our country should be sent home. Legal citizens should be treated as any other citizen, legal citizens found aiding and abetting terrorists should be made an example of.

How many lives were lost to the Inquisition?

The article clearly stated that the fundamentalist Muslim was far worse. But that's not good enough for you is it?

The article is true. There are extremists in all walks, but these terrorists ARE a perversion. Not only to the Muslims religion, but they pervert the word of G-d!

We have strength through unity, if we squabble and divide within we will surely fall.

We must remain united as President Bush and his cabinet have so often pointed out.
