Looks like Italy is switching sides early in this war instead of waiting till half way like usual.

What in the holy heck is going on with our "supposed" allies?

"The term 'war' is inappropriate. It is not a conflict between states and Italian troops will not go anywhere," Martino told the RAI television station. Asked about Saudi-born extremist Osama bin Laden's role in the attacks, Martino said "the idea that one man is behind this tragedy is misguided."
So which one is it idiot? Is it one guy or is it state-sponsored? Can't have it both ways, can we?

Like another Freeper said about the French:
"Did they surrender yet?"

The term 'war' is inappropriate.Right. It's just planes and bombs and bullets and thousands of people getting killed and stuff.

Why did the US bother to help these countries: France, Germany, Italy.
They deserve to be ignored about their next (and ongoing) disaster.

Remember, we didn't hear from the Prime Minister. This could be nothing more than a trial balloon. I know, ever the optimist.
However this also illustrates why it is important that the Administration seeks a Declaration of War rather than the 21st Century version of the Tonkin Gulf resolution that Congress approved.

Italian Defense Minister Antonio Martino on Sunday said...that use of the term "war" was inappropriate. Probably afraid that on hearing the word, Italian troops would surrender en masse.

This guy sounds like Al Haig "I am in charge here."
Bzzzz... WRONG ANSWER ITALY!
To: Arkinsaw
The Italians have never found a war that they couldn't run from!

What we need are German combat troops and Italian food.
What we'll probably end up with are Italian combat troops and German food.

Well this is about the best news I've heard all week. I can't really say having an Italian soldier watching my back would give me a huge boost of confidence.

"The term 'war' is inappropriate. It is not a conflict between states and Italian troops will not go anywhere," Martino told the RAI television station. FACT: VP Cheney said Bin Laden's involvement is a certainty.
FACT: The Afghans have refused to give Bin Laden up, vowed to protect him, and threatened to take action against the US.
Sounds like a conflict between states to me.
