Ann Coulter Calls Christian Soldiers to Arms

In a country full of people eager for vengeance and with an ample supply of commentators, Ann Coulter can safely take the prize for the most hateful reaction to appear in print. Her column, which appeared on the right-wing National Review Online, ostensibly is a tribute to her friend Barbara Olson -- another frequent on-air commentator and writer who died in one of the hijacked airplanes on Tuesday -- but quickly devolves into something more akin to a call for a Crusade (or is that jihad?). “We know who the homicidal maniacs are,” she wrote referring to the Muslim states suspected of harboring those responsible for the attacks. “They are the ones cheering and dancing right now. We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.”

And as inflammatory and outrageous as these sentiments certainly are, the National Review's editor said he was more or less OK with what she had to say.

“The column was obviously written with some degree of anger, rage, and grief and she probably went a little far on certain things but the essential point I think is accurate that the most drastic possible measures are called for,” says Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review. “What Ann is expressing is something a lot of Americans feel in such situations which is ... once the country is aroused we’re in for the full pound.”

Such extreme sentiments, like Coulter’s, are hardly in short supply. Thursday's New York Post offered this assessment: "This is war. It needs to be prosecuted as such. The men behind the men who rained havoc on New York and Washington need to be called to account. The heavens need to fall on their heads. They need to bleed. Not next month. Not next week. Now. Who are they? Who cares? Cast a wide enough net, and you’ll catch the fish that need catching."

Huh, I didn't read where she said put a gun to someone's head to convert them to Chrisianity.

Where is that located in the article?

I must have just missed that part, because I know you would not say she said those words if she did not say them.

I just read the article again, still cannot find where she said that.

You are right, that would be unbiblical and foolish to consider.

I still can't find where she said for us to put a gun to anyone's head and force them to convert to Chrisianity.

She must not have really said that after all.

You just want people to think she said that.

President George Bush referred to the unfolding campaign against terrorism as this "crusade."

Yes Mr Writer this is a crusade even the President says so. Rid the world of evil.

"Inside.com" castigated Ann Coulter and she, like Jerry Falwell, have made some of the most wisest and insightful comments yet on the answer to last Tuesday's disaster. In essence, Coulter and Falwell believe sin exacts a cost, there's a price to pay for breaking God's law, and apart from obeying the Holy Bible there's no hope for the expansion of peace and prosperity.

Whenever the messenger is verbally attacked you can generally assume the author is accurate and the opposition is rattled to the core. Coulter is exactly right. We're obligated by God to defend our nation and to evangelize the world so that false religions such as Islam no longer keep men captive to falsehood and its fallout. Caring for Muslims involves sharing with them the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Coulter's remark was obviously ironic, playing to the expectations of the left and their easily provoked over-reactions to anything Christian. She has blood in her eye after the death of Barbara Olson.

That didn't prevent Coulter for being self-serving. She describes her last contact with Barbara, and it's all about Ted Olson praising one of Coulter's columns. That is more than a little unseemly.

I don't believe in forcing Christianity, for all I care now we could force atheism on them. Or at the least, they should eliminate their blood-lusting mullahs and re-write certain portions of their Koran quickly themselves.

No mention of forcing them to convert. Just to convert them. Christians have been doing that at home and abroad for a long time.

Point a gun to their head and say accept Christianity or die. She never said that. She said that we should 1.engage in acts of war against those who committed acts of war against us and 2. that we should convert them to Christianity.

2 wrongs do not make a right. We can not FORCE conversion of christianity on anybody!!

Coulter was brief and perhaps you're reading more into her piece than what she intended. The Bible is clear that God places His effectual call on those Whom He chooses to save (i.e. be "born again.") From there man is regenerated, forgiven, converted and justified. As Christ's viceregents we merely share the meaning of the Bible, especially the soteriological issues, and God opens their eyes and hearts, leading them to repentance. This is basic theology and the failure of the church to teach this has allowed for the spread of Islam and other false religions and cults.

Coulter DID NOT say that they should be FORCED to accept Christ or die. So stop saying she did. She said they should be converted. At least the ones who are alive after this war is over.

yet these ANIMALS that practice ISLAM can and *do* try to force their view of the world on us. Hmm.... you've never read anything in the Koran have you? Ever had a middle eastern studies course in College? I have.

The core of the Koran calls for Muslims to convert non-muslims to Islam by occupation, coersion, or FORCE if necessary. That is the CORE MESSAGE of Islam, and it is undeniable.

Muslims believe that Mohammed was a prophet of God. He was not. God did not send ANY prophet that advocated violence or the MURDER of others that did not practice a specific faith. Yet, that is exactly what Islam advocates.

Muslims know "convert or DIE" as part of their "religion."

They are animals, and should be treated as such IMO.

President Bush just said on TV that this was a "crusade". Both he and Ann are correct.
