KABUL, Afghanistan -- Pakistan is to give the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan three days to hand over suspected terrorist Osama bin Laden or face U.S. military action.

The ultimatum comes as Pakistan makes eleventh-hour diplomatic efforts to prevent a military strike in the region.

We need to make it clear to the entire world, friend and foe alike, that supporting terrorists in any way is the most dangerous thing in the world. We should offer the following choices to anyone we think may be harboring terrorists:

• Turn over whoever we ask for
• Get out of our way while we get whoever we want
• Die

Anything less will simply mean more and worse attacks in the future.

Bin Laden still in Afghanistan: Taliban official

DUBAI - Osama bin Laden, a key suspect in the US terrorist attacks, is still in Afghanistan, the ruling Taliban regime's charge d'affairs in the United Arab Emirates said on Saturday.

"Osama bin Laden is still in Afghanistan," Aziz Al-Rahman told AFP by telephone, adding that the terror suspect was free to stay or leave. "If he wants to leave we will not stop him. But if he wants to stay, we will not make him leave. He is the guest of our people," he said.

The United States has threatened to attack any country that has harboured or supported those responsible for the devastating attacks on New York and Washington on Tuesday that thousands dead. Rahman refused to indicate where bin Laden was staying inside Afghanistan.

Rumours are rife that bin Laden has been on the move since the US attacks, but no one outside his inner circle of close confidantes is said to know exactly where he is. Some say even the Taliban are unaware of his movements. After he became the United States' most wanted terrorist in the wake of the 1998 twin US embassy bombings in East Africa -- which led to US missile strikes on his camps in Khost -- the militia put a price on his protection.

Who besides myself are annoyed with these armchair generals who presume to know what is the best course of action, who sit in the comfort of their homes and snipe at our President and his advisors, who are working 24/7 on behalf of our country, because they are "not acting quickly enough" to satisfy their desires to watch a TV war on a weekend with no football?

These folks would have the President act in haste, putting not only our troops in danger but the entire operation at risk, just so they can have something exciting to watch on FOX News this weekend.

It took six months of DESERT SHIELD before we had DESERT STORM. It will take some time to build up NOBLE EAGLE before it can become SCREAMING EAGLE. We need to put our troops and materials into position and build up our supply lines before we can conduct an effective campaign. So that means we are probably going to have a boring Sunday afternoon. So if you are bored, go outside and do something. Read a book. Do something. But don't sit here threatening to vote Democrat and demanding that we recklessly sling some bombs around just so you can have your need for immediate gratification sated.

Maybe it will take us three more days just to get the forces in place and the plans completed to carry out whatever threat we make. In that case, the deadline makes sense.

Shoot, I'd "compromise" even more. All they have to hand over of Bin Laden is...his head. Same goes for ALL those that follow him.

I would like to see us go after bin Laden's children, particularly his son, and those who attended the son's wedding before getting bin Laden himself. Let bin Laden experience the grief experienced by thousands in this country and, perhaps, goad him into a course of action that would betray his organization.

As enraged as the world is, the threat is from the various terrorist cells all over the world. If we punish those giving support and shelter to the terrorists, we must nuke D.C, ourselves.

The FAA, in particular, knew the threat, but changed nothing. Congress is equally to blame; they've had the reports for a while - and recently.

Rage, revenge and blood-thirst aside, who would we bomb? It is far more effective to let Kabul starve and freeze. That would yield a high body count without a weapon being fired. When they get desperate, let them ante up Bin Laden or his remains. As enraged and frustrated as America is; invasion or attack are a waste.

When Pakistan can't control the flood of refugees, they'll give us the intelligence we need.

There might be a finishing job on Iraq (oil fields wanted - oh, wow!), but that will only solve part of the problem while dedicating the individual cells to a radically worse terrorist operation on U.S. soil.

The terrorist threat on U.S. soil has just begun.

While the Muslims in this country cry - "unfair" on the discrimination issue, are they offering any names or locations? Are they offering names of those who fanatically approve? They have to know much of what's going on.

If they are truly 'American,' give us the information on the terrorists. Otherwise, it's deportation time. This isn't the time to be "nice."

I think even if they handed bin Laden over, that we would still go forth with attacks elsewhere if not Afghanistan. But, by getting bin Laden early the commander is gone. Yeah, there are others to take their place, but the one they all looked to would be gone. Maybe a mind game. Maybe they would argue over who is in charge, who knows, but I don't think it would stop if they handed him over. jmo

I think that if the Taliban doesn't turn over bin Laden, then that will be an admission that bin Laden is guilty and they know it. If they thought he was innocent, they would turn him over for a trial.
