lop...This shortage has always been true under democratic presidents. The welfare checks go out on time every month but the military starves. At the beginning of Korean war, I recall having to wire bombay doors shut with wire as we lacked parts. This was quite irratating to me as that was one of the primary bailout exits.

"Have we been caught with our collective pants down? It would seem so..." Well said.
No one wants a dedication and fortitude of the last administration. Going after the "aspirin" and goaded as resolve. This is the time that we're glad to have our leader that uses the utmost action to go after these scumbags of the earth.

Justice in a civilized world means nothing to someone like bin Laden. Justice is, in fact, a civilized concept which is foreign to him and people like him. That's why threatening to bomb Afganistan even farther back into the stone age or killing tens of thousands of innocent people in retaliation would mean nothing to him. We cannot stop this by lowering ourselves to his level. We need to direct our attacks to him and people like him and their organizations. We need to take out the leadership of countries that harbor him and not their population. The population may hate us but if the leadership fears us and what we will do to them individually then they will give in to our wishes regardless of popular support.

Agreed. After we get there we need to open internment camps and no one gets out until we are satisfied they are no threat.
We can't afford to make a mistake.
Any first or subsequent effort must be successful.

The article states:
""We sincerely hope that the great American people could differentiate between the people of Afghanistan and a handful of fundamentalist terrorists," said a statement from the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA).Sneakypete states: "You too are a fool,as is anybody calling for the murder of millions of innocent people."
This fool must disagree. The people of Afghanistan either support the "handful of fundamentalist terrorists" actively or passively. There are no "innocents" except the children who are too young to know what's going on. If they wish to stop or minimize their own destruction let them rise up against the terrorists. Otherwise prepare for the worst.
Same goes for Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Iran, the Sudan....

I have to still pray for a peaceful resolution, that God will protect the innocent....that His Light of Glory shine over America, the middle east, and around the world so brightly that the wicked are brought to justice speedily, that the innocent are protected...I loose His warrior angels over Afganistan and Pakistan, Iraq and Iran...everywhere there are pockets of evil to be rooted out, in the name of Jesus Christ, son of the living God. I also speak to the spirit of hate and rebuke you in our nation and around the world...you have no power, all roots of bitterness destroyed by the precious power in the name and love of Jesus Christ. God bless America and all who stand beside her. Amen "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I will repay." "There are three things that will endure--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love."

I continue to be amazed and disappointed at the childish impatience and stupidity I keep seeing expressed on FR these days.

BINGO!

If we were relying on just airplanes I would say you have a point. I believe we have the necessay cruise missles in the Indian Ocean to take out the binladen base camps, now. Even if they are unoccupied, you have degraded their ability to train terrorist commandoes to project their terrorism. binladen has paid money to build these camps, and you are hitting him hard in the wallet. DB, I believe alot of the refrain about waiting to insure we do it right is coming from those editorial pages that are always suspicious of the American military and American power. No, I think you can do both. It will be a long struggle. The cruise missle attack on binladen's base camps and the taliban military assets is just the first installment. The Pentagon has been planning for this for at least 7 years, we know where the camps are, and the cruise missles are in place. Let's get on with it.

Dear konva, This is a sea change in America, and, you know what? It now doesn't matter whether the newspapers or the Europeans like what we do or not.

I know. (At least Sr. admits some responsibility). It's just that I feel this should have been taken care of after the USS COLE was bombed. The fact that 17 people died was just brushed aside. I want it stopped but I don't want to go half cocked and bomb another aspirin factory. I can wait as long as we get it right.

Which is, actually, VERY fortunate. (Even for the newspapers and Europeans, unless they want to learn Arabian).

Taliban given three days to hand over bin Laden Hmmmmmm.
By my reckoning, three days after Tuesday, Sept 11, 2001, 8:50 am...... are already up.
Where are the tomahawks and the Air-fuel bombs? The latter work great against caves...
To: CindyDawg
Let us remember that the aspirin factory bombing had NOTHING to do with SAD-um, and EVERYTHING to do with refocusing the media attention away from the philanderer-in-chief at a critical time. The opinion polls weren't looking good. Hillary was screaming, "Do something!"

"We sincerely hope that the great American people could differentiate between the people of Afghanistan and a handful of fundamentalist terrorists," said a statement from the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA). Up until last Tuesday, the actions of the people of Afghanistan and the handful of fundamental terrorists was indistinguishable.
I choose to remember it that way.
This is not an "Oooops, so sorry" moment.
The whole idea of the imminent action is to give these primitive savages and all other ragheads the fear of Gof.
And spare me the "vengeance" hand-wringing.
Justice is simply vengeance put to a vote. And America has voted.
