NY FReepers who DISAPPEARED on-line the moment of the tragedy

By searching the homepages of all NY FReepers, and clicking on the "Find In Forum" link, I have identified four FReepers who:
1] Were active posters (not dormant users);
2] Posting up until the tragedy;
2] Then suddenly stopped posting on FR.
I've listed the most alarming one first:
thefactor: Posted twice at 10:07 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, watching in horror as "the tower" went down, describing chaos, and asking for prayer. See this thread: Plane Crashes into World Trade Center. Read his posts #112 and #119 VERY CAREFULLY and tell me whether you too think this sounds like an EYEWITNESS in the SECOND TOWER. We should check the timeline of events that day: What time did the first and second towers collapse? This FReeper also lives in NYC, according to previous posts. Young male.
The next three -- sorry, two -- stanz is accounted for -- are slightly less alarming, but still warrant our concern, as they were active posters. You and I know how addictive this place is. Why would someone be an active poster -- in NYC -- and then stop posting after one of the worst tragedies in history?
Attillathehon: posted from the middle of Manhattan at 9:51 AM Eastern on Tuesday; nothing since.
PBRSTREETGANG: a very frequent poster who last posted at 8:41 a.m. Eastern Tuesday, Sept. 11, and NOTHING since. Had posted the day before, then again moments before the initial strike of the North Tower.
NOTE: These are all active FReepers, not people who haven't posted in months.
Do you know these FReepers?

Couple of possibilities: 1) They only had internet access at work and the company they work for is in the rubble or is inaccesable. 2) They have a freind or relative missing and are simply in a state of grieving and are not in the mood to post.

In case you're checking this in the morning, the mystery has been solved. It seems the nightmare I was having was not a "ghost in the rafters" after all, but just a "bluebird in the attic." All I have are bats in the belfry. ;^)

My lady friend lives across the west side drive from the WTC and has not been able to go home since the attack, except to grab some stuff with a military escort into her apt. It may well be that these freepers are cut of from their computers in a similar fashion.

No, because if you look at the earlier posts, you'll see remarks about the second tower having been hit too. As addictive as FR is, no one would stay at their computer after an airplane crashed into their building (and I'm pretty sure electricity would have gone out). The electricity did not go out. I know someone who knows someone that got out of the second building in one piece. He said that the electricity and air condititoning were still working after the building was hit. He was on the 29th floor, so got out okay. But he said they were announcing on the PA system that everything was under control,a nd people should return to their office! He said some people did just that...

This may be a possible explanation for people not posting. I have been a very active freeper for over 3 years. During election night 2000 I could not log on (FR too busy). I was taking a vacation week (at home), yet I was in such fear and misery that I did not log on to my computer again until the following Monday when I was returning to work.
Let's face it: since this has happened there have been an overload of threads. I have spent 8-10 hours a day on FR from Tuesday on. It seems reasonable to me that people who are shellshocked may simply not be up to wading through FR these days.

My son and daughter-in-law work uptown and are OK as of Tuesday PM.
There was a possibility that my Son could have been downtown since he is actively looking for a job.
We did however loose one old acquiantance from NYC; a boy my Son played with in 1979-80. He was above the plane hit line in the first building.
He called his brother to say there was too much fire and smoke and he knew he would not make it out and to tell parents he loved them. Never heard from again.
Just a little Hindu kid that never hurt anyone.
My son was on the phone with a friend downtown who saw the first tower hit, and was on the phone with him when the second one was hit.
My son is now a "mugged liberal" - even talking about enlisting.

Just another possibility. People may be travelling. I myself was scheduled on a flight from Dallas to LA that was cancelled. I ended up having to drive back to LA and being off-line for a couple of days. It could be a similar case here.
Thanks for your concern for your fellow FReepers.
Best,
Bootyist

I can't use AT&T for long distance but I can get through with PT-1 Communications - dial 1016868 then 1 plus the number you want.

Sorry about the friend, glad the family is safe, glad the son is now awake, sorry it had to be through such a hideous act.
Hugs.

Bumping...has anyone given thought to the fact that these people may live close to WTC and were evacuated, and can not yet return home to their computers and other things?

Silly: Attillathehon is my SISTER. She is alive and well. I have been in touch with her. She should tell her story about how long it took to get home. We have a nephew who is a firefighter from south brooklyn, early on the scene HE is the ONLY surviving member of his station house that day. I will make sure she checks in. She has NOT been able to go back to work and thus no further reples.
