While I was stationed in Germany I had the honor of visiting General Patton's final resting place many times.
Every year I would take my family to the Hamm cemetary to attend the Memorial Day ceremony.
I consider it a honor to have had the opportunity to have visited the final resting place of such a great man and true American patriot.

By the way the movie script censored the speech - this one above must be the real speech. Gotta love George S Patton Please email to your friends.

Except that the M26 was deployed to ETO, in small numbers, and served in combat. There never were very many of them made before the end of the war, but some of them were sent into battle.
Actually, it is not at all certain that it would have been a good idea to replace the Shermans with Pershings. That would have involved pulling armored divisions out of combat to refit and retrain. And putting in new divisions equipted with M26s, even assuming that enough could have been produced in 1944 to equip a division, side by side with divisions equipted with M4s would have created one hell of a supply and maintenance problem.

My apology in #59 was not strong enough. I was being a really low jerk, and totally over reacted to your prior replies on this thread. Sorry.
