Some in media can't stop criticizing Bush

Petty press habits persist, despite the national crisis. Even on the national day of mourning, some journalists continued their sniping at President Bush, judging him primarily by the style rather than the content of his message.

"Bush has yet to find a note of eloquence in his own voice. He is, in fact, distrustful of it, and went for Texas plain talk, rhetoric as flat as the prairie and as blunt as a Clint Eastwood soliloquy," wrote Newsweek's Howard Fineman, later noting, "he did not look larger than life at his Oval Office desk, or even particularly comfortable there, and he cited Psalms without the kind of emotional resonance voter-viewers have come to expect from an Empathizer in Chief."

Mickey Kaus (Slate), Howard Fineman (Newsweek), Howard Rosenberg (LA Times), Newsday (Bill Moyers' rag):

ALL Anti-American arrogant scum, who would disparage a great President in time of WAR and who would "BLAME AMERICA FIRST".

Focus on US approach to NI

President Bush met politicians at the White House

President Bush met politicians at the White House

Gerry Adams (centre), Ireland's Bin Laden in the company of George Bush and Bertie Ahern.

Sadly, Bush appeared to have taken over where Clinton left off. Maybe he has a different view now.

90% of the American people support our President. I didn't know that the national media comprises 10% of the U.S. population.

Yes lets not forget the IRA. I was almost caught by a couple of IRA blasts in the early 90's. I know what it's like to be afraid of train stations, and other large public spaces. I will never forget that the Kennedys and their like minded ilk have supported terrorism.

The national media are within the anti American 10%. Their was a Newsweak pole a few years ago about the views of the media verses the views of the people. Does anyone remember this pole and when it was published?

People visiting the US from NI were a bit surprised at the lax security at US airports which handled internal flights.

Strange (not really) how some in the media are not telling us to let the president get on with doing the work of the American people.

Rather is burned out and Spencer is reportedly married to some Democrat Party money man.

I believe that Susan Spencer is married to Boston Globe columnist Tom Oliphant. He's not a DemocRAT Party money man, he a DemocRAT Party FLACK.

Last night, just days after the largest and most deadly terrorist attack the world has ever seen, just when we start idenifiing the thousands and thousands of dead inosent americans, Dan Rather said, and I quote:

"...there are some who will argue that he didn't win that election."

Had I been a cameraman for CBS news last night, I would have stepped out from behind the camera, onto the set, and slapped Dan Rather upside the head with the kind of punk slap he deserves.

Some "author" tonight on Nightline used the Guliani BS line ...it maked me sick

The author's name was something like Franzen. He went on to say he has sadly has no confidence in Bush because Bush Senior's finest hour was getting permission to fight in the Gulf War. Maybe Franzen was real tired and so was talking stupid. That's all the energy I'll spend on this loser.

Not only are the typical media slimeballs doing their best to undercut President Bush, but now the blame game is on and they are doing their very best to make sure that the Democrats don't end up with the "hot potato" when that blame game comes to them...

Today, in his Washington Post column, Richard Cohen focuses ("Anatomy of a Failure") on the failure of our intelligence agency/apparatus and how this is the result of years (decades) of deterioration: "The intelligence failures that produced Tuesday's horrific consequences were themselves bipartisanly arrived at. It took the combined efforts of Democratic and Republican presidents, plus key members of Congress from both parties, to give this nation an intelligence apparatus that failed us so badly." and then this missive: "The Reagan administration attempted to reconstitute that element [human assets] of the intelligence apparatus. The trouble was that CIA Director Bill casey went, in the words of one knowledgeable Capitol Hill source, '1,000 miles too far.' The Iran-Contra scandal ended any effort to rebuild human assets."

Cohen goes on to note that America was targeted for this terrible act not because of our leadership position in Western Civilization but "because it [America] has repeatedly inserted itself into the Middle East.... And everywhere we go in the region and even from outside it, we exude the noxious modernity -- the music, the clothing, the contempt for tradition and authority. We are a dangerous people." [Can you believe that one?!]

Finally: "We failed and we failed badly at the business of intelligence. Republicans were at fault and Democrats were at fault and so, in a way, were we all."

There you go: a liberal media stupid talking head coming to the typical conclusion -- we are all to blame equally so no finger pointing allowed! And don't you dare turn your eyes to blame any of us opinion-shapers in the liberal media because we've always had the best of intentions. Frigging unbelievable.

The one that comes to my mind is The Roper Report, 1992 or 1993. 89% of the Washington presstitutes voted for Slick.

Ideally Americans would flip out and bomb the Arab world indiscriminately. Who is served by such a scenario?

I can see that you think very much along the same lines as I do. My initial guess was China. I certainly hope it's not Russia or a combination of the two.
