Each Lunev's argument makes sense, considering that the author is a high-ranking intelligence figure (highly professional) who has decades of experience working in this capacity for Russians before his defection to the U.S.

I hate to say this but I believe I will live to see the detonation of a nuclear device within the continental United States.

I firmly believe it is not a matter of if, but when.

The President’s sole real responsibility is to preserve your Constitutional government – not to hold press conferences.

We must prepare for more casualties. Regardless of whether we respond, more Americans will be killed by the terrorists. The first question is whether we are going to fight back. The second question is whether we are going to fight those who are attacking us or whether we are going to attack innocent Americans trying to exercise their rights. Some would have us become more passive in the face of evil. I believe that they are foolish. Instead, we must fight those who have attacked us and remove them as a threat.

From now on, we know for sure that there are hundreds if not thousands of terrorists who are living among us in America.
They are preparing to continue the war against countries, which provide them hospitality, including dozens of so-called "sleepers" or specially trained terrorists who pretend to be U.S. citizens and residents. 24 hours a day, every day, they are waiting for the wake-up call from their organization leaders for a new attack against American people.

Many Freepers and other Americans would place political correctness, touchy-feely multiculturalism, so called civil libertarianism, ABOVE national security. I favor taking off the rose colored glasses, and tending to first things first, like winning the war at hand.

That means rounding up suspected aliens on expired visas, sending muslim-arab foreign students home, and other measures. Yes, selective internments are a good idea, or optional voluntary deportation.

For those of short adult lives, or short memories, this stuff has been going on since at least the 1972 Munich Olympics. More or less regularly. We never become serious enough, to call it a war. Now we have. Let's put some meaning behind the words.

American citizens should be watchful about suspicious activities and not just by those of mideastern appearance and report to the authorities.

Citizens could form small cells and brainstorm about things around them that they might notice and twart. That would be more productive than infighting.

Dude sounds like a Republican FReeper.

Man, let him run the conjoined, new, expunged CIA/FBI after all the trecherous idiots are flushed out of those agencies. (There should be about two guys left afterward.)

This attack IS the Clinton Legacy.

I've been aware of the possibility for years; it's amazing the number of people who still don't get it.

I am continually amazed how easy the American government makes it for enemies to penetrate American society and institutions. I am also amazed how many American journalists dislike America, and openly work against this country.

Our problem has always been that we do not know our true enemies--the media and the liberals, whether democrat or republican. Who has been a greater enemy to our freedom than Bill Clinton? Yet, he moves openly and unhindered. God help us!

This is the weak resolution the Senate is working on. Compare it to a real declaration of war from 1941

SJ 22 ES

107th CONGRESS

1st Session

S. J. RES. 22

JOINT RESOLUTION

Expressing the sense of the Senate and House of Representatives regarding the terrorist attacks launched against the United States on September 11, 2001.

Whereas on September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked and destroyed four civilian aircraft, crashing two of them into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and a third into the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C.;

Whereas thousands of innocent Americans were killed and injured as a result of these attacks, including the passengers and crew of the four aircraft, workers in the World Trade Center and in the Pentagon, rescue workers, and bystanders;

Whereas these attacks destroyed both towers of the World Trade Center, as well as adjacent buildings, and seriously damaged the Pentagon; and

Whereas these attacks were by far the deadliest terrorist attacks ever launched against the United States, and, by targeting symbols of American strength and success, clearly were intended to intimidate our Nation and weaken its resolve: Now, therefore, be it

Passed the Senate September 12, 2001.

Compare that wimpy drivel to this:

JOINT RESOLUTION

Declaring that a state of war exists between the Imperial Government of Japan and the Government and the people of the United States and making provisions to prosecute the same.

Whereas the Imperial Government of Japan has committed unprovoked acts of war against the Government and the people of the United States of America:

Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the state of war between the United States and the Imperial Government of Japan which has thus been thrust upon the United States is hereby formally declared;

and the President is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire naval and military forces of the United States and the resources of the Government to carry on war against the Imperial Government of Japan; and, to bring the conflict to a successful termination, all of the resources of the country are hereby pledged by the Congress of the United States.

Approved, December 8, 1941, 4:10 p.m. E.S.T.

Apparently there is some major funny business going on in the Senate, even in this time of "bi-partisanship".

I am disgusted.

Please US House save us from this insult to all who have died.

Most people who know me know that I am far from anti-immigrant.

But I have to say that I can think of no reason why foreign nationals residing in the U.S. have an irrevocable right to continue to do so. They are here as our guests; they are here at our pleasure and they can leave when their welcome is at an end.

I think we need to begin terminating the visas of all resident aliens from Middle Eastern nations that are not pending citizenship. Some of them may be very inconvenienced. They may have bought homes, cars, they may even own businesses. I think we can buy them out at fair market value, and tell them that they are welcome to reapply for entry into this country in a few years, when things have all settled down.

These are extraordinary times and call for extraordinary measures. This is a different country now than it was one week ago.

I was surprised to hear, Thursday, some politicians in Washington making statements that terrorist operations against America are over.

Who said this? I have never heard such a sentiment and I think the author is making this point up. Can anyone tell me who said this?

I posted this on another thread but I think maybe this is a better place for it:

Send the Statue of Liberty back to France and let THEM take in all the "huddled masses". The Lazarus poem is NOT a part of our Constitution. It is a man-made tradition. When a tradition begins to drain us we need to drop it. We need a moratorium on immigration, to send back ALL non-citizens both legal and illegal NOW.

We need to reassess what number of immigrants would be healthy for us.

Secure our borders from ALL illegal entry. Do not accept the criminal elements from other counties. We have plenty of our own. A family doesn't adopt children when they can't afford to take basic care of the ones they already have.

One side benefit to this is that all semetic-looking immigrants that are already citizens here will have a greater measure of protection. It's better than profiling or internment or beating them up.

This might satisfy the bloodlust for action and revenge that some Americans are demanding because are too childish to wait for a reasoned response to what has happened plus it needs to be done anyway.

This one too: It occured to me today that the food in chain fast food places might be vunerable to contamination as another form of terrorism. Most of us have thought about attacks on the water supply but don't disregard this possibility also.

I am also amazed how many American journalists dislike America, and openly work against this country....

Like canuck high-school dropouts by the name of peter (don't call me "dick") jennings. BTW, lower case intentional. Pissant canadian piece of excrement...

The article is, unfortunately, self-evident in it's truth. Even now, the Senate is trying to water down the Declaration of War (house resoloution by Bob Barr) so that it's more along the lines of "we're sad about Tuesdays' events, and we want to take one week to get rid of terrorism" sort of bill...

The only way we'll win this war, is by taking the reins ourselves, and killing the terrorists on our own. Without the stupid international "coalition" (handholding sessions), without totally wimping out because our (demoRAT and centrist) leaders resemble invertebrates... Without the moralistic hand-wringing the media is already switching over to.

We will have to fight Old-Testament style: Eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, life for a life...

But make sure we revisit it on them a hundred-fold.

When this happened, I, in my cynical heart, doubted our leaders would really do anything substantive, like kill the camel-jockey bastards...

I pray to God... That I'm proven wrong.

God Bless America.

The situation is rather grave. Unfortunately the giddy lib and PC atmosphere which usually prevails in America undermines awareness of the very real presence and reality of evil in the world. The country needs to be more vigilant. And we need a more sophisticated CIA and FBI.

Precisely!

It’s almost a certainty that our reprisal for Terrible Tuesday will be to return portions of the middle east to sand dunes. While I’m not saying that such action is NOT fully justified, we’d better be prepared for the list of “Those Who Hate America” to lengthen. For every madman we take out, there will be a dozen in line behind him ready to take his place. That means there will certainly be MORE such attacks HERE!

Which brings me to say that if the NJ/NY Ports Authority rebuilds the WTC on the same scale as the one now spread over much of Manhattan, the new design should incorporate large BULLSEYES on the sides.

I’ve spent my career designing steel structures and told my son before the SECOND plane hit the second tower that the FIRST building was “toast.” There was NO WAY those heat weakened columns would hold. And when the second plane hit the second tower, taking out the columns on one side, I knew IT was history. I cried as the second tower struck crumpled in the direction of the sliced columns and, shortly after, the upper 20 floors of the first tower pan-caked into the lower 90 after THOSE columns buckled.

I’m not some anti-techno Luddite: Even BEFORE the events of 9/11, I was growing weary of watching bodies fall from burning high-rise buildings as rescue workers stood helplessly in the street below, poised to clean up the carnage. I wonder how many high-rise dwellers are today looking for farms in Kansas?

The evidence is growing that we need to seriously rethink our compulsion to concentrate populations in taller and taller, easy-to-hit targets which are also built to be efficient chimneys.

The loss of life in the WTC will be staggering. Compare that number to the final body count at the Pentagon. Then think about the differences in those two buildings.

I rest my case!
