Excerpt from Drudge Report:
U.S. Rep. Martin T. Meehan (D-MA) scoffed at reports Air Force One was targeted by terrorists - the reason Bush aides have put forth to explain why the president delayed his return to Washington after Tuesday's attack on the Pentagon. 'I don't buy the notion Air Force One was a target,' said Meehan. 'That's just PR. That's just spin'...

Meehan was faster this time than Kennedy... I'm from Mass and ashamed of the socialists that we have "defending" the Constitution....

Read your comments ...very informative and I'm sure there are some Freepers who hadn't considered that either but actually, I sent my letters out Wednesday....I sort of suspected that's the way they treated the e-mail too.
P.S. Thanks for the compliment.

By the way, wasn't it Marty Meehan's hero Bill Clinton who sealed off Pennsylvania Avenue when the Federal Building in
Oklahoma City was blown up?
I don't seem to recall Marty implying that his hero was a coward at that time.
But maybe I'm taking it out of context.

I said I asked the questions to make sure that my opinion, unlike her bosses', was an informed one. I then told her she should be ashamed for working for such a man and hung up. Exactly what I'm planning to tell her when I finally get through. (The line's been busy for two hours.)
Some people will do anything for a paycheck.

What's he really afraid of? Leadership? He knows Pres. Bush isn't a coward. He could deal with that. I've seen something twice now that gives me chills. Once when Pres. Bush was coming back to the White House and just now at the cathedral I have seen him stop for just a second and stare in the camera. You can feel his anger and to me it's like he is sending a message to who is behind this that he his coming after them.

I've heard it before from some staffers' own mouths - E-MAIL is the LOWEST on the "pay attention" scale for these people for communication from outside the office. Hard copy (i.e. letters and faxes) AND phone calls get heeded. E-mail, especially from non-constituents either gets ignored or gets deleted straight into the "trash" box.Your contacts are absolutely right. Although I have never worked in Congress, I did serve as a staff attorney in the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate for many years. E-mail is rarely read and even less rarely does it receive a response. Form letters are pretty much a waste of time and postage, except they do provide an endless supply of scrap paper. Faxes will get someone's attention as long as you're not simply faxing a form letter. Telephone calls will generally get the attention of a staffer as long as the caller is sincere and not reading from a script. In my experience, the best way to get the attention of an elected official is to write a personal letter starting or ending with the words, "I enjoyed meeting you at your campaign fundraiser on..." And rather than sending thousands of form letters in support or against a particular cause, you are much better sending a single letter from the leader or organizer of a group of thousands. For example, a typical attention getting letter might start with the words, "I am the president and founder of Hillbillysucks, Inc., a not for profit corporation that now has more than 2500 polically active members who live within your district. I write this letter to protest..."

I called and got through. I was told the statement would be clarified in the Boston Globe. I asked him if it would also be clarified in other liberal rags like the New York Times or The Washington Post and he hung up. I don't know why.

What's he really afraid of?He's such a quintessential Massachusetts Democrat partisan HACK that he's mindlessly attacking President Bush because he's a Republican.
The deep, dark, slimy depths of what passes for a soul in MassHole Democrats are something that could be plumbed by only Beelzebub himself, and even he'd probably be sickened.
Add to this an intellect approaching single digits, and you have the Honorable Marty Meehan.
To: truthandlife
The DNC issued their talking points. Notice how they've all been spewing "I'm skeptical that...."
It's time to bring back the stockades and publicly humiliate and defame those that are aiding America's enemies.
To: PLOM...NOT!
Just sent this by email.... Dear Representative Meehan, The following has been reported and attributed to you: " U.S. Rep. That's just spin'..." Is this an accurate record of your comments? If it is I must say that I am completely and utterly disgusted with you. Your ignorance is astounding. I hold the greatest contempt for you and any other elected official that shares your uninformed views. If possible please arrange for a face-to-face meeting with me so that we can settle this issue as gentleman. My home address is: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thank you for your consideration. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Not expecting any reply from the worm congressman.

I just got through.
I told the "staffer" who answered that I wanted Rep. Meehan to retract his statement about Air Force One. I said I found the statement, quote, "disgusting." I again said I wanted an "immediate retraction."

I guess that you (and other Freepers) in Massachusetts didn't deserve my blast at that State. I was stationed there (when we had a part of 10th Special Forces at Fort Devens) and I did meet a lot of patriotic Americans at the VFW, American Legion, and so on.
Can you explain to me WHY Cambridge, in particular, is basically a Communist enclave? And why do the voters keep sending the absolute scum of the Earth to Washington? (I won't even discuss the State Government- Howie Carr does a fine job of that!)
I am serious- what is wrong there??
To: Valin
I highly recommend everyone take a moment to contact their own representatives and demand they call Meehan and Neal on the carpet for their adolescent, anti-American remarks!

I got through on ext. 13. Told them to look for another job because people and money will pour in against them at election time.
MA Freepers, please repost this thread nearer election time with all the contact info for their opponents.
Your with us or against us.

Keep letting the phone ring and they eventually will answer. I just got through after letting it ring for several minutes. I told them I was an elected offical in AR (true) and I could not believe the lack of consideration for the safety of our President and Air Force One. We all know that this latest spy has told of emergency precautions in the event of a national crisis was exposed. I told him I would be sending money to support any opponent of this poor excuse for a Congressman.
To: All
Here is the text of my email to both of them
Dear Sir,
I am digusted by the comments you made regarding our President. You of all people should know that in times of crisis, certain measures are taken to ensure the safety of our leaders. I hope, sir, that the next time you choose to spout off in order to make a name for yourself, you choose to do it at a more appropriate time in history. To make such rediculous accusations in a time of National crisis disgusts me. As myself and many Americans feel, now is not a time to go about spreading dissent in our Nation. Now is a time to stand tall, to unite as one nation and to feel proud to be an American. You sir have made me feel ashamed. If we cannot stand together, how can we defeat our enemies? If we cannot support the decisions made by our leaders in a time such as this one, how can we ever lift ourselves from the dipair so many of us feel? I would only hope, sir, that you choose your words more wisely the next time you open your mouth. I would also hope that your constituents remember your actions the next time you are up for an election.

BUMPBut please do not forget to call Congressman Neal (D-MA) who is quoted as saying President Bush was "bland."
Ph. (202)225-5601.
I called and he was, surprise, also quoted "out-of-context."
To: truthandlife
If he's an example of the people of Massachusetts, it's no wonder the terrorists chose Boston as the place to stage the attack on our nation and freedom.
