Well, it seems that France and Germany have made statements declaring that the attack on us Tuesday were not "acts of war" and in the meantime India, Russia and Japan have offered their help/assistance. Who are our friends?
then they deserve to be dumped and lumped with Norway and the Taliban.
India knows first-hand that bin Laden needs to be destroyed. They want him gone for their own safety.
Russia would love to roll over Afghanistan again. They hate bin Laden.
Japan has been an ally since shortly after the end of WWII. Their support does not suprise me.
Look for REAL (read: commitment of troop) support from the UK and Canada, possibly Australia.
Hmmmm.
In this day & age...
A dog.
If you feed 'em good.
According to reports, the bin Laden training center is on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. As you may recall, Pakistan was once part of India---Islamic rebels managed to break away from the Hindus in India---and they have been sworn enemies ever since. I'm sure India would like nothing better than to have Pakistan overflown, overrun, and overwhelmed by our forces on their way to bin Laden's lair. If the bombs and the bayonets should spill over the border into Pakistan, much the better.
The Russians, of course, are still smarting from their "police action" in Afghanistan. It's been called their "Vietnam" with overwhelming Soviet forces bloodied and forced to withdraw by Mujahadeen(sp) guerillas. They are unlikely to invade again, but I suspect they would love to spank them unmercifully from a safe altitude.
I don't know about Japan, but I guess they have economic reasons to assist us.
Alliances rarely arise from pure motives, and are usually fleeting. Stalin and Hitler were "friends" briefly, as long as it suited their purposes. FDR, Churchill, and Stalin were, too (briefly).
If you've noticed, there are still liberal idiots in this country that are talking about "bringing bin Laden to justice." I am pleased that I see that Prez Bush, Oliver North, and Newt Gingrich are thinking the same way I am: This is not a judicial issue; we're not going out to "arrest" bin Laden and "bring him in." We're after his head, and we're going to get it. When this is over - however long it takes - bin Laden will be history, along with a whole host of "wannabe" replacements.
This is a situation that is quickly dividing up into only two sides: If you aint for us, you're against us. Naturally, the Taliban rats are scrambling for cover, running around like cartoon characters, knowing we're on our way. And we're big time pissed off.
Got a good start with Britain and (some of) NATO. Apparently India will be there. Australia, too. Israel is just chomping at the bit to get their gear on!
Germany, France, and Norway will offer tokens, but not much more commitment than, say, Mauritania, only less effective.
Line up 12 Muslim dictatorships on the other side.
China and will wait to see how things look before enjoining, and trying to use Panama and Cuba as bases... just about a week before Taiwan gets a few carrier task forces.
Russia is the wild-card. They don't like the Afghanis but they don't want a border-war with China.
The 'good news' is that the land war will mostly play out 'over there' once again, but for the first time, America will sustain significant civilian casualties... as we already have.
Continental Europe is another issue...
"It is important that countries like Australia play a role in identifying ourselves with the Americans. Just because you are big and strong doesn't mean that you can't feel lonely and you can't feel that your heart has been ripped out." He said at such times, American needed to know it had " some really good reliable friends."

"....Prime Minister John Howard today pledged that Australia will give America military assistance, if it asks, in any retaliation over Tuesday's devastating terrorist assault.
He told a press conference just before he left Washington to return home that while Australia had not been asked, "we would provide support within our capability".
"We have to accept that this is an occasion when we should stand shoulder to shoulder with the Americans, because this is not just an assault on America, it's an assault on the way of life that we hold dear in common," he said."

Is the author suggesting that we should have sought to bring the emperor of Japan to trial on December 8, 1941 for his bombing of Pearl Harbor!?
While the UK wasn't mentioned in this article they are in a death spiral. Today, the UK is much like the Titanic. The bow is submerged and the stern is out of the water. Blair continues to let Britain be a dumping ground for third world refuse, knowing that they'll want to suck at the government teat, and that they'll vote Labour since they love redistributing the wealth through confiscatory taxes. Those Britons who really support us are the older generation, who fought alongside us in WWII. Today's youth could care less. They vote Labour and se the EU as their future.
