And thank God you aren't in charge either. Here's hoping Bush will destroy these terrorists and those who suport them ... and that he'll work to minimize the deaths of innocents.

Anyone who cries for the carpet bombing of nations or indiscriminate destruction of civilian targets is no more virtuous than those who support the 18 monsters who killed more than 5,000 Americans.

What's going to be especially tough in this struggle, Jeff, is the fact that we're fighting an enemy that blends in with the populace. Just exactly who/where do we hit? I can honestly tell you that I don't envy those who must make those decisions based upon, at best, limited intel.

I'll go so far here as to say that I think it's impossible to wage the war these animals started without major cities being pounded or wiped out. THAT is supremely sad, but again........what else do we do? Sit and wait for them to pop up out of their holes and arrest them somehow? With whose police or military forces? Theirs? Even if that was possible, we all know what would happen next: more young martyrdom-bound fanatics will replenish their ranks.

The only conceivable way to quash this vicious cycle is through............viciousness. It must hurt, and hurt bad. It must be so painful that terrorists will be pariahs in these countries rather than heroes.

........and I know of no civilized person who could be happy about it.
