I'm male.

I expected this article to bring a bunch of rabid dogs out of the woodwork, but I had no idea there would be this many.

I believe that human nature is essentially the same no matter where a person lives. What we see here spewing all over this thread is the spawning of new American terrorists. If these people screaming for blood had lived in one of the countries that have been injured by the American governments actions, they probably would have joined Bin Laden's forces years ago.

Sadly, I believe the cycle of violence will continue as America's newly "sworn" in battalion of terrorists attack the terrorists that have attacked us causing a new battalion of terrorists to swell from their ranks and so on and so on. Based on some of these posts, I imagine what happened on Tuesday is to be repeated on American soil. We'll have the rabid dogs of this post to thank for it.

I've lived in the middle east (Iran) and the trouble with these people is that they are dominated and controlled by their religeous leaders, the Mullahs etc. The majority of these people don't really hate us, they merely are demonstrating that, that they are told to do.

Eliminate those leaders, the mullahs and fanatics like Bin Laden and the vast majority of these people will live peaceful and contended lives.

The biggest political mistake this country ever made was by Jimmy Carter, who toppled the Shah of Iran, who was the undesputed leader of all of the middle east, by supporting the exciled Iatollah KHomeini(SP). This allowed Iran's fanatical leader to take controll and spread their evil thru out the middle eastern countries.

Bush administration is assembling an international coalition for an Israeli-style war against terrorism, as if such counter-productive acts of outrage had an existence separate from the social conditions out of which they arise. But for every "terror network" that is rooted out, another will emerge

That is simply not true. You crush the Arab terrorist network and you put a financial and military gun to the head of every Arab/Muslim nation. You apply the pressure and you ignore their whining and you squeeze. You hunt the b#stards down before they can do anything , you torment their newspapers, you harrass their leaders, you squeeze their banks. You arrest them, uou harrass their families, you track them, you make their lives miserable and their sponsors jittery.

All this other handwringing is for pople who didnt lose 30,000 civilians in a single day

You are so mindlessly, completely, full of yourself, it's coming out your ears. And the pressure continues to rise.

You think you understand something? You understand nothing.

I notice how you and your couple of other like minded brainiacs play tag and congratulate one another, and circle your wagons, and revel in your imaginary struggle. Just like all the elitist, socialist, corrected people do, to feel sorry for themselves, to feel mock offense and to look to others to place blame for their comforting "oppressed" status.

getoffmylawn - Bump to #100. Wise words.

Gumption - Apologies for pooling 2 replies into one but the thread is so slow that it speeds things up. Plus getoffmylawn may have something insightful to add as well (including his/ her comments in #100).

I understand what you're saying, and I know that you're not someone to just blindly call for blood. I can see why the US would feel that they had to do something; but if it's not the right 'thing' then it could cause even more problems.

The people of Afghanistan (the probable target) are already suffering horribly and the vast amount of refugees moving through Europe are Afghans trying to escape the Taleban. They are not the enemy, and bombs do not discriminate.

If this was Bin Laden then he and those involved should be hunted down, but he is not representative of the Aghan people. He is, however, supported by a huge number of Islamists around the globe, many of whom are motivated more by their dislike of the US than by Bin Laden himself.

Even if there was a military response, who would be the target? Why would it be acceptable to kill any innocent people as punishment for something they had absolutely no control over? Besides which, it would just make things worse and be followed by more attacks both on the US and elsewhere.

Killing people doesn't solve anything. This was a terrorist attack; the West should not lower itself to respond with more terrorism. The only way forward is to look closely at why this happened, find and punish those responsible, and then review the entire approach by the US towards the rest of the world.

Recall troops from the areas where they should not be deployed such as the Balkans; scrap the missile defence plans (which are totally redundant anyway); deal with other countries with greater respect and readiness to listen rather than just 'kick ass'; and work with all countries to redress the balance of global security. That includes sticking to the Charters that have worked so well since WWII, which e.g. specified that Nato should be a defensive organisation and not attack other countries unless a member was under attack and requested support.

America, under Clinton, saw fit to break a number of charters and conventions and do whatever it chose. Of course that's going to stoke up hate and violence.

Ever served in the military? Ever spent time overseas? Have you ever been outside the pool you are peeing in?

In Haiti they put tires around peoples necks and light them on fire. It is the Police that do that, it is considered fun. In Lebanon, when Arafat was in control of the southern portion, they tie your hands to the bumper of a couple of Jeeps and your legs on another and see if they can pull you into equal pieces. It was the controling authorities that do that, it is considered fun to deliver the pieces to the door step of your wifes house without waking her so she can find you in the morning. In Afganistan, if your beard is not long enough they tie you to a post in the public square and whip the flesh off of your back. In Egypt if you are starving and steal a loaf of bread (there is no welfare checks there) they cut off your hand, there are no third time offenders.

Most people in the other parts of the world are too damn busy trying to survive to worry about what America is doing on the other side of the world. Only leftist liberal trash who are trying to find some whine that will hurt our concience and allow them to tap our wallets (note the comments about unfair wealth distribution) spend so much time worrying about Americans. Like the UN Raceist party, the very nations that were whining that their grandpa was old enough to be a slave so you should pay us money, own slaves themselves! Most people who have Jobs are darn glad to see American tourists because we are the most generious spenders on the planet. (busy distributing that wealth we MADE for OURSELVES by being free, hard workers.)

Frankly I do not give a rip if Pakykurdestanian's are pissed if I do not hate Saudigyptianianians like they do. I like who I like and that is my buisness. I do how ever highly object when they kill my family because I do not align with their politics on the other side of this planet.

Frankly I am normaly too busy enjoying my freedom, and working hard to support my family to worry about their wallets or their religion. But when they decide to come over on my side of the planet and kill people, I take it is time for me to convince them that it is not a good idea.

Just like the Palestinians, who are working so hard to destroy the society that feeds them, leftist liberals on the government payroll are trying to take down the parts of our society that produce something. Evil is evil, and is generaly pretty clueless. It has lots of opinions, and opinions along with a buck will buy you a candy bar.

I find you clueless, and one of the ones that stand under my umbrella when it rains. I just wish you would take a bath once and a while.
