Okay here is an idea.. while the world watches the clean up of WTC let them see American flags flying all around. From the window of nearby buildings. Stickers for rescue workers helmets, etc... I need help organizing this. Anyone have ideas or contact people in the area of WTC that could help? I have a couple of extra flags... God bless America

A nice sentiment, really. But they could use bandages and drinking water and a heck of a lot of other things more than flags at this point.
I don't want to rain on your parade. I've got my flag flying here in Virginia. But I think NY has other things to deal with first. Not to mention the fact that, until air and rail transportation are restored and until the highways start to clear, we'd have a heck of a a time getting anything there.

Contact the American Legion or the V.F.W. Veterans of Foreign Wars You can pull up the website and find the local chapters. WWW.NY.LEGION.ORG is the website for the NY chapter of American Legion. Semper Fi, Mike

I agree with you. That did come into my mind. I just thought there might be a way. Perhaps there is a freeper on one of the rescue teams we could send flags to, and also to show our support to the resue teams. I hate seeing that area and not being able to differentiate it from Bosnia. Just a thought. :)

Good point. You might want to donate blood, volunteer for the Red Cross locally they need a lot of help and if you are able make a financial donation. The Red Cross holds a special place in my heart because if not for them I would not be here today. Semper Fi, Mike

I too have done the blood and money things... even given my neighbors flags to fly... what else can we do?

I sent your idea to the Dixie Flag Co. in San Antonio, TX. They've been giving out free American flags to people in San Antonio following this horror, so maybe they will be interested in helping get some to NYC.

The workers in NYC need work gloves, dust mask, drinking water, clean socks, prepared foods. Send a flag, but vital supplies are more important.

Do you have a contact person to send those supplies to? My red cross is a joke. I had to beg them to take blood.

send me an email and I'll forward an address.

Here is the problem. I live in Yonkers NY, the city next to NYC. Yonkers is a blue collar city, with many ethnics, etc. Everyone has a flag up today. As I drove to work through Scarsdale, a rich community, Edgement, another rich community, not a flag in sight. Not a flag around. these people, the money interests on wall street who go from one gated communicty to another, supported this outrageous immigaration policy that allowed for all of these America- haters to come in here. They are not loyal to america. They are loyal to the dollar. Those of you in middle america don't have a clue to what is going on over here. Our culture has changed, for the worse. The enemy is within.

Can't we drop a few thousand American flags over Afganistan to let them know we are coming? If nothing else just to piss em off.

Take away the dollars and the rich folk will come around.
I do think your overreaching, imho
To: chris1
I am sure you see things in that area that we don't. I live in upper middle America... and our flags are flying. Believe me it is not just Blue collar America that is full of patriots. I think most know that without America there is no dollar... literaly. More pressing, there is no peace and no joy.
Have heart, and God speed to you and you neighbors. The terrorists can not win if we carry the flag within our hearts and minds. When push comes to shove... Americans, rich and blue collar, will fight for America and Old Glory.

A nice sentiment, really. But they could use bandages and drinking water and a heck of a lot of other things more than flags at this point. Agreed...but irrelevant. they may or may not need flags...but we most certainly DO!!!
I'm sure others have said it, but their victory lies not in the shattered bodies or crumpled steel, but in our shattered spirit. If Americans take "a new birth of freedom" from these "honored dead" than WE WIN (if only at great cost).
I say send them in! There was nothing more encouraging to me yesterday than seeing the flag raised amongst the rubble. I need to see more of this every time I hear a body count or see a replay.
The Alamo...Pearl Harbor...etc. These became some of the greatest moments in our nation's history because of the response they fostered.
