NEW YORK (CNN) -- Passengers on board the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed in rural Pennsylvania Tuesday apparently decided to attack the terrorists who had commandeered the plane, according to family members of one passenger.
Passenger Jeremy Glick, flying with his 2-month-old child Emerson, called his wife Liz and in-laws in New York on a cell phone to say the plane had been hijacked.

I think you misunderstood by point. These people are heroes. But because there were NO guns present, that would have told me that the plane isn't going to land.It won't be in the air long enough to prevent the passengers from attempting to seize control, so ergo, I, as a hijacked passenger, have two rotten choices.I either die fighting, hopeing to thwart their plans, or I die in a suicide mission.
If they would have had guns, my calculation would be different, but I can say honestly, I would have tried to storm in any of the 4 planes because that was the only hand left to play.It sounds like Game Theory, but in a sense it is.A brutal one, with no happy outcome.

And when I look forward to the long ages of posterity, I glory in the thought that I am fighting their battles. Let's see, "I heard", that "someone" had and interview with "two eyewitnesses". Sounds like solid evidence to me! Actually, it was from someone that I trust that heard the interview on a local radio station(I'm about 80 miles from the crash). It put a shadow of doubt in my mind, especially since yesterday when it was happening, the first reports were that the military shot it down. I hope I'm not known for spreading hearsay. I am just reporting something I believe to be a fact. I am not making a judgement either way.

Unfortunately, no mailing address is listed, so we don't know where to send cards and letters to Deena, the widow, expressing our feelings regarding her husband and others on that flight being heroes.

See my reply to Don.Its because of having NO guns that I said what I did. That still doesn't lessen my admiration for these brave, decent people.

I would recommend everyone place a nice length of steel pipe in their car tnight. For what purpose?

Besides that, there are people on tv being interviewed and they are retelling these stories, between tears, of the last words from their loved ones. Nothing indicates that it was shot down, and nothing indicates that the story is fabricated.

I can not even imagine having this happening while you have your two month old child with you. The little guy had a dad to be proud of.

Well, they deserve some sort of memorial if they can't receive medals. Heros...we have needed heros badly for a long time. Here they are, folks!

I cant either. I dont know whether I would look at my child and be in shock knowing he was about to die, or enraged enough to act. Either way it would be hard.

The only satisfaction I have thus far is that the hijackers did not go straight to Heaven, as they thought, but rather they are now in Hell, gnashing their teeth in agony! Allah be praised!

Can you explain to me how this passage justifies his belief the story is contrived? That is what I mean. It doesn't. I understand his skepticism though. The last eight years don't go from memory quickly.
Another possible scenario, the passengers attacked the highjackers and the military shot it down. Its possible.
I vote on the heroes. It would be horrible if one of our pilots had to shoot down one of our own planes. But, in the circumstances, totally justifiable. As evidenced by the actions of the people on the plane voting to attack the highjackers.

You're right, I saw that interview when they spoke with the lady that was outside and saw the plane go down.
