"Tankers going to classified location? My son is in the AF and works with them. He was told yesterday to pack a bag when he went on his shift just in case. Are you in Kansas?"
No.
He must be a McConnell AFB?

Don't worry because they stay high and don't go in to high threat areas. They go to the edge in the air but never touch down in hostile areas.

Take another Prozac, go hug a tree and shut the HELL up!

Couldn't we compromise and just hang them with pig intestines, followed by a cremation in dried pig dung and an unceremonious scattering of the ashes over a feed lot?

"The sounds are totally different between jets and props." Geez... I know that. I had a C-130, spewing flares, set my ship afire one night in Vietnam. I know what a C-130 sounds like. These sounded bigger. But, I could not think of a bigger prop driven plane than a C-130.

I've just got to ask this, Arcadia. Do you think generals who don't lead their own charges are "creating the appearance of hiding?" Or do you think there's a reason why they aren't expected to be in the front lines?
To: blam
I don't know of any current planes that are bigger then a C-130 right now. The P3 and a few others are about the same size or a little smaller but not bigger.

I just heard some big prop driven military planes go over my house here in Mobile. My guess is that they are out of the Pensacola Naval Air station which is about 40-50 miles away. We don't use prop driven tankers anymore do we? Maybe cargo planes? Probably C-130 Hercules. They are about the only large turboprop left in the USAF inventory. Used for battlefield conditions. Some are armed with miniguns and Vulcan cannon and used for direct ground support.
My guess would be that we are planning something big that will take time. Folks are thinking this will be over before the leaves fall. Or by Christmas at the latest.
Wrong.
Think WWII.
Q. How much time elapsed between Pearl Harbor and the first US raid on Japan (the Doolittle Raid, specifically)?
Look it up, chilluns -- it is relevant to the time this new war will consume.

My boyfriend is in the AF ... folks from his base are being sent. I think they are pulling from all refueling wings. And thats pretty much all thats left of the Air Force since Klintoons reign. I pray for all our men and women that now have to answer the call.

"Q. How much time elapsed between Pearl Harbor and the first US raid on Japan (the Doolittle Raid, specifically)? " It was about six months (wasn't it) when those sixteen B-25 (Mitchell) Bombers took off from the deck of the USS Hornet. (BTW, you know who helped rescue his crew? John Birch of John Birch Society fame)

"Could it have been one of these? (They're based at Hurlburton.) " Yup. You ought to see that baby doing that number at night, all guns blazing. Scary, especially when you're on a 10k ton ship loaded with ammo that's under assault by the VC.

Peter Jennings eat your heart out! Your snide remarks against "W" are not undermining his leadership! Go back to writing speeches for Babs Streisand!

howlin, as I read the different threads, it amazes me the number of people who have questionable objectives in this forum. I can't even post, they make me so mad. I'd get banned if I wrote what I am thinking. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking those people to task.

I have heard so many newsmen call murderers "gentlemen," today Osama bin Laden and the Russian immigrant who killed 5 in his family. I can overlook the "folks" as that merely means people.
