As Christians, we must heed Christ's DEMAND of us and turn the other cheek. Any attack on these terrorists is simply spitting in Jesus' face. Let us all bow our heads in prayer that Jesus' Will will be carried out. Amen

The attacks of yesterday and the pending retaliation fit in quite a bit with Revelations 18:2-11
Revelation 18:2-11
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (Not sure but Afghanistan may have been part of Babylon [Iraq] in the distant past, and there are reports that Iraq financed Bin Laden.)
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. (drunk of the wine of her wrath could mean having tasted her terrorism, and waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies could be OIL...living for the money)
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. (could be to prevent innocents and good people from feeling the pain of OUR wrath)
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. (Give back, as it was given to us indeed pay her back twice fold)
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, (the other countries that befriend Iraq and terrorists?)
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
Anyway, its just a thought and possible reference.

Even Jesus whipped the money changers out of the Temple.
Don't think playing holier than God cuts it.

Really. It just takes study.
I can imagine your surprise when He comes again, with that double-edge sword. The fit is going to hit the shan, you can count on it...the meek will inherit nothing but mockery and scorn, it is the humble before God who will inherit the earth.

"He who does not have a sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one." Perhaps you may recall who said that. Not one of His more often quoted lines, but it's right there in the Gospels. Yup, Jesus Christ, Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, born for our salvation from the Virgin Mary.
Although clergy were forbidden to bear arms, and killing, even in war was a matter for penance under ancient canons (three years excommunication, as opposed to life-long with communion on the deathbed for murder), the Church plainly rejected the notion that the following of Christ required Christians to refrain from engaging in war.
Do not forget also, that the Holy Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist John advised soldiers to "be content with your wages" not to leave the army.
Turning the other cheek is an injunction to the individual, not to a civil society.

I believe that God wants us to protect ourselves. The time for turning the other cheek is long past - Now it is time for us to rise up and rid the world of this scourge.

You must have missed Nathal Deal (R-GA, he's from the bible belt) speech on the House floor tonight. He reminded us that Christians follow not only the New Testament, but ALSO the Old, and that we must DEFEND ourselves against those who would destory our beliefs and way of life. Like Congressman Deal said, "an eye for eye...there will be hell to pay"

So they kill 10,000 of us and we do nothing? I don't know what denomination you are Betty, but that's not Christianity

You're a sham. Your website shows that you dump on anything to the right of Stalin.

Before we loose the word
That bids new worlds to birth,
Needs must we loosen first the sword
Of Justice upon earth;
Or else all else is vain
Since life on earth began,
And the spent world sinks back again
Hopeless of God and Man.

Turning the other cheek has nothing to do with this. Go back and do a deeper study of what turning the other cheek means. The US Military will be the sword of the Lord. You are an embarassment to people who know what that verse really means.

Absolute rubbish and you should study your Bible. Christ told individuals to forgive enemies. But governments are to meet out punishment - as is right. Read Romans. As a people, we protect ourselves, we fight. What do you think God did protecting Israel's people in battle. It is written in the New Testament. Unfortunately, your type of misunderstanding of the Bible and what Jesus commands of us is complicit in creating such weak and ridiculous positions.
To: BettyBowers,Christian
You know, sometimes I get so sick of the passivist, collectivist, communistic brand of Christians out there with their "turn the other cheek" while getting a big kick in the butt mentality. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord. Look for a few of the more militant quotes that you find in the good book. It's not all passivism, not by a longshot.

,,, if you're a Christian, you'll be familiar with one of the Ten Commandments - "Thou shalt not kill". If you declare war, army to army, it's a recognised, legitimate last straw measure. To send sub humans to another country like the US and turn their own tools against them is murder. I'm a Christian but I'd like to think I'm employing a rational approach to what has happened. If Afghanistan or any other country that makes kilims and nerve gas lights up green in the middle of the night, be happy - they're going straight to allah. There's six billion of us on this planet, so I can't possibly be the judge. You'd have to agree though that these people have nothing to offer anyone thru their means of advancing their cause.

You can't be serious.
If every time you passed your neighbor on the sidewalk and he punched you in the stomach, you would simply "turn the other cheek."
Don't say that you would simply take another route, because this is the only sidewalk that leads to the grocery store. Don't say you would try to reason with a man, a guy that won't even say hello to you.
The day would come that you would either fight back, or lie there writhing in pain.

Turn the other cheek while you are forced to get a clitorectomy..........with no anesthetic, with no anti-biotics , and with a dull knife.
The future fate of the "Western Whores" if Muslim fanatacism prevails.
