JUDICIAL WATCH BLAMES PRESIDENT BUSH FOR TERRORIST ATTACKS --Promises Investigation (mine)

GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE, LACK OF HONESTY WITH AMERICAN PEOPLE LEAD TO TERRORIST DISASTERS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

(Washington, DC, September 12, 2001) Larry Klayman, Chairman and General Counsel of Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today issued the following statement concerning the horrific terrorist attack on the United States, on a day – September 11, 2001 – that, even more than Pearl Harbor, will live in infamy.

“It is now apparent – given the near total lack of security at U.S. airports and elsewhere – that the U.S. government has not been forthright with the American people. During the last eight years of scandal during the Clinton administration, and the first eight months of the Bush Administration, reports this morning confirm that little to nothing was done to secure our nation’s airports and transportation systems as a whole – despite warnings.”

“Instead, cosmetic reform of education, social security, taxes, and other less important issues were given precedence. In addition, the American people were lead to believe that appropriate anti-terrorist counter measures were being taken. Instead of telling the truth so the problems could be addressed, politicians painted a rosy picture in order to be elected and re-elected.”

“Judicial Watch will use its investigative powers to look into the obvious breach of the people’s trust by a government which should not only have been candid, but also have taken steps to defend them.”

“Judicial Watch offers it condolences and sympathy to the dead and wounded, and their families, and prays that the nation will overcome this tragedy,” Klayman added.

My first inclination is to jump on the band wagon and dump on Klaymen for this.  I want you to know I don't see moments after a disaster as the proper time to engage policy debates.  Give it a week or so at least to start the debate process on security.  As for a lack of security most of us who fly think there's almost too much.  But here's something I heard during the last 36 hours.

Supposedly, part of the crews receive very little background checks.  The flights on Tuesday morning were first flights of the day.  There is some concern that some of the crews could have slipped some of the razor blade cutters and knives on board.  "IF", and a great BIG "IF" this is true, I would consider that a an absolute breach of the security proceedures that we thought were going on.  To be clear, I'm not sure this report was accurate, because we have not seen this problem talked up in the press.  I heard it once.  That was it.

I want to stress that I heard this on the tube.  I'm not sure if there is any creedence to it.  If there isn't, and that may be the case, we have no problem.  Ig it IS TRUE I have to tell you that I feel betrayed.  We have to go through metal detectors, have our bag x-rayed and practicly turn our head's and cough.  If the crews are a weak link, I want to know why!  And I would also want heads to roll.  Plenty of them.

If Larry were to uncover something like this, I'd be glad he did.  Other than that I think most of us are fairly happy with security.  But if four six man teams were able to commandeer planes which may have cost 20,000 plus lives, and it looks like they did, I think there are some basic questions that need to be asked and answered.

How did this happen?  What are we going through all this security for if it's completely ineffectual?

Larry, for goodness sake. Put a cork in it for a week or so.

Thanks for posting that to let us know where your heart is these days.

We'll put you down on the list marked "Them," as in "Us v. Them."

Entry to the cockpit is the key. Off the cuff, what airports are about now would not have stopped what in fact occurred. (Some of it strikes me as hysteria, such as stopping all private auto traffic into LAX.) Indeed, with enough training, bare hands trained to kill in seconds would have been enough for this operation.

But of course I could be wrong. I will try to keep an open mind.

I know your MO only too well. The overwhelming sadness of yesterday has given way to blood boiling today whcih was not helped by the Massachusetts talk show dolts wanting the CIC to return to DC with a "shoot me" sign on his back.

I suspect tomorrow my heart will turn cooler and Klaymans teeth will remain rooted in his boca grande while I think of bigger game.

These are bad times amigo and I fear they are not over yet.

Whatever the guy said to which you responded had an incredibly short half life. Mere seconds almost. It must have been a doozy.

Too many lives have been lost to stay silent.

Tell that to your idol, Klayman, who uses a terrible tragedy involving thousands of innocent lives lost to attack our President with baseless 'charges' that are simply a ploy for attention and fund-raising under the cloak of 'concern'. It's crap, all of it, and FReepers are rightly angry with these cheap, shoddy and grandstanding tactics by your buddy Klayman on the bodies of the innocent dead to get some attention. If anyone should 'stay silent' now, it's Larry (send me your money) Klayman.

Patriot? You're no Patriot, you're an opportunist, you are advancing your agenda at the expense of tens of thousands of dead people.

Try Patriotism and stand united, there will be time for the accusations later, right now we are burying our dead.

Soon, they'll be burying theirs.

Eight years of X42 decimated our military, and depleted our ordnance.

It doesn't ALL get fixed in eight months.

Thanks for the ping. I'm embarrassed that not all that long ago I took Klayman seriously. How can anyone still be supporting this creep? This is rock bottom, even for Klayman.

"there will be time for the accusations later, right now we are burying our dead".

Its later than you think pal. These are just more burials in a long chain of burials.

Besides we will be burying our dead from this latest attack for the next 4 months. No more rules, no more business as usual.
