I'm listening to MSNBC, and they have polls showing over 90% support for our president. They are also reporting that over a 1,000 people gathered outside the White House tonight for a candlelight vigil of support.
"Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear, for He protects me".
Psalm 23
Thanks for the pictures
I was thinking, once again, as in many days before, how very, very grateful to the good Lord I am that He moved through W to put together such an incredible pool of talent to advise our president. I'm especially grateful for the years, and the wisdom, of Dick Cheney at this hour. A voice of calm, reason, restraint, to be measured against any tendency that may exist in W to react a bit more rashly at times, being younger, and tempermentally a bit more of a fireball than Mr. C.
Mark Bingham is one of the passengers on the PA-crashed flight who apparently helped the hijackers fail in their mission. I watched Mark Bingham's mother on TV today, volunteering the information that she had been "so touched by the President's" message of comfort, and I swear, God as my witness, I literally felt a searing wave of agony go through my soul as if I were a network exec cringing at this spontaneous outpouring of gratitude. I often am hit with burdens to pray for others in such a manner. I prayed for the execs ...
I know this may sound like a level of intercession that is strange to some, but it is how the Lord lets me see where to direct my praying at times, by putting other people's thoughts and burdens on me (Jesus being our example here, having taken the weight of all our needs on Himself at the cross).
It is also a very helpful thing, in this situation, to gauge the mind-set of some media moguls. I felt their horror at what she said and that they instantly wanted to silence her, somehow take the words back from the public consciousness ... were angry that, in her grief, she praised our president as one who comforted her.
The SOB WAS president when this happened. And what did he do? For the 1993 attempt on the WTC he relied on law enforcement to solve an act of war. Like someone said today, that was like arresting and putting in jail the pilots that bombed Pearl Harbor and not going after Japan.
And for the American embassy bombings in Africa, well, I think he bombed an aspirin factory, and tried to get Osama bin Laden, but when he failed, he said, well, I tried...
Respectfully I am in complete disagreement. GWB grew and grew and grew last year. And when he took the reins he was more ready than even Cheney. And he's still growing.
After I posted the above, I was just on another thread Safire: Inside the Bunker (A Mole in the White House?) in which Safire writes that Cheney talked W out of returning to DC ... it's worth a look, and speaks to what my prior post on this thread addresses.
Coward that he is he would have been back peddling trying to keep from having to face what must be faced and swiftly dealt with.
To have a real leader in the White House is a great comfort. I for one don't care how inconvenienced we are as long as we finally go after all who would bring down our beloved America.
Thank you Rintense for your patriotism, steadfast nature, and clarity of thought. May God guide our leaders through this horrible evil time. My prayers are with them and their families, that they are kept safe and filled with the resolve to do what is required.
Thank you, Lord, for President Bush and the entire administration. We thank you for keeping him safe during the attacks Tuesday, and ask that you will continue to protect him.
On the other hand, President Bush has been saying the doing JUST the right things.
