Dick Cheney at this hour. A voice of calm, reason, restraint, to be measured against any tendency that may exist in W to react a bit more rashly at times, being younger, and tempermentally a bit more of a fireball than Mr. C.

Respectfully I am in complete disagreement. GWB grew and grew and grew last year. And when he took the reins he was more ready than even Cheney. And he's still growing.

After I posted the above, I was just on another thread Safire: Inside the Bunker (A Mole in the White House?) in which Safire writes that Cheney talked W out of returning to DC ... it's worth a look, and speaks to what my prior post on this thread addresses.
