Dallas-area mosque target of shooting
Dallas Morning News | 09/12/2001 | Associated Press

IRVING – At least six bullets shattered windows of a North Texas Mosque this morning, causing about $3,000 in damage, officials said.

Windows at the Islamic Center of Irving were found shot out when workers arrived at the mosque about 6 a.m. Nobody was at the mosque when the shooting occurred and no injuries were reported.

About 800 people attend services at the center.

Irving police were investigating the incident.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was related to Tuesday's terrorist attacks along the East Coast.

"It's very sad. We're just trying as any Americans, any Muslim-American, to comprehend what happened and why it happened ... we called on our community for a blood drive, we set a fund for donations and we made a special prayer last night ... and to come in the morning and find out a place of worship like this trashed," Alkawldeh said, his voice trembling.

"We have children, we have family ... we have to shut down our school operation for two days now so I hope the law enforcement agency come also to our help as Muslims, as citizens of this country," he said.

I was predicting to all who would listen the mosque firebombings would start by Friday. Looks like somebody jumped the gun.

This is every bit as repulsive an act as any other act of stupidity and bigotry. We should be above this sort of crap. These are Americans and deserve to be treated as such. Cowards who do such things are no different from the ones who were responsible for the tragedies of Tuesday... only in degree.

Isn't it WONDERFUL how much better we are than the Islamic terrorists (who are, of course, aided, abetted, prayed for an adored by EVERY Muslim throughout the world--according to the ignorant dolts here on FR).

Well, we showed THEM!

How exactly does shooting out a window equal killing maybe 20,000 people and causing about a billion dollars worth of property damage?

Chill out. FR venters aren't relevant, and the mindless incidents against Muslims in the US have been gratifyingly limited so far.

Exactly! And, more than likely, they were bigots just waiting for an excuse to do something like this.

Perhaps the "Muslims in the US" have decried the actions of the terriorists - who are evidently Muslims. Perhaps they did, and I've missed it. Maybe they should do it a bit louder. Or suffer the consequences.

Perhaps they had better quickly decide if they want to be Muslims or Americans. Time is running out.

I live in Irving and my guess is that this is gang related activity using this event as cover.

I think so-called "moderate" Muslims owe the world a clear and convincing explaination from the Quran that Islam does not support the behavior of the Taliban and like-minded groups.

I am amazed at how so many Muslims say that Islam is a religion of peace and love, but most Muslims I've talked to don't know what the Quran says. I know more about the teachings of Islam than most Muslims I meet.

I've challanged Muslims to bring me a Quran when they have denied some of the things I say about the teaching of the Quran. When I am in their homes and I know they have a Quran in their home, they never bring a Quran to me.

So, please, if there are any "moderate" Muslims here on FR, please explain to us FROM THE QURAN (your own book) how your prophet teaches that the views of the Taliban and like-minded Muslims are not in accordance with the Quran.

Thank you.

Nearly EVERYONE in the world has condemned these attacks, even Yasir Arafat. Condemnations are meaningless, actions are what counts. Arafat lets the terrorists operate in his fiefdom with a free hand. Wait and see which Muslim groups do things like attempt to blame the US for the bombings, you'll see that most of them will not.

Perhaps they had better quickly decide if they want to be Muslims or Americans.

According to the Islamic view of the state, Islam and the State are one. This is a direct contradiction to the U.S. Constitution which states that Congress shall make now law establishing a religion.

When Muslims are a minority in a state, there are rules of conduct in which to live by. However, when they are a majority, Islam and the State are one.

In addition, Islam is a religion which expects to rule the world. With this in mind, any Muslim who knows his own religion understands that being a minority in any state is a temporary condition (a perpetual state of jihad) until they are in the majority. This puts Islamic theology directly at odds with the United States Constitution.

Credible evidence has emerged that suggests some of the terrorists were living in the United States. Clearly, this shows that the Muslim theat is internal, as well as external. That, taken together with the fact that many Muslims have been celebrating yesterday's slaughter, makes me inclined to attempt to understand the rage underlying this kind of incident.

First of all, how does it "pay back" for those people? What does the one have to with the other? And why is it that people like you automatically assume there is some connection?

You need to examine your assumptions. They are quite eerie.
