As ingenious as the attack was, it had one glaring weakness: It was bad for business. Markets have been shaken worldwide, including in Europe and (yes) China. Nobody is going to tolerate that kind of destabilization.

Fine......we're gonna kill people one way or the other. With or without your help.

You want to help? Just stay out of our way when we find these bastards.

A good point that even bin Laden could appreciate. I'm serious...there is no "sarcasm" tag open here.

Is this a good thing? Does it mean we have to coordinate our responses with the rest of NATO? If so, it could be a bad thing.

Great...Afghanistan gets bombed from 15k feet, and we keep our fingers crossed that a goat-herder doesn't get killed by collateral damage.

Trivializes NATO and its mission. When the IRA attacks London, does anyone think to invoke ART V? How about the attack against US in Germany by Libya? Not only was ART V not invoked, some NATO members did not support us.

Where do people come up with such nonsense? Better to invoke ART V against those in charge of our security and who have failed miserably starting with the Clintons and those opposed to NMD.

I don't like this for a couple of reasons.

First, the NATO countries didn't care about the NATO "contract" when it came to bombing Yugoslavia. They just went right on ahead converting NATO into an offensive operation.

Second, the NATO countries are never this friendly/helpful towards the U.S. This makes me very suspicious of their motives. Do they want to show their own strength during a moment of American vulnerability, in order to prove something?

Like how America now owes them? Or how WORLD responses (and governance) are imperative if even the greatest/largest nation on earth can be attacked?

Sure, it's all warm-and-fuzzy what NATO is saying. But why are they saying it? I just don't trust them.

talian Foreign Minister Renato Rugbierro said in Brussels that ``an attack on the U.S. territory is an attack on the values that belong to all of us.''

Did I miss something?

Or did one of our leaders declare: "We are all socialists now."

Fine......we're gonna kill people one way or the other. With or without your help.

If our allies don't join us we will end up doing nothing. The Nervous Nellies in Congress (Hillbilery, Sheila Jackson Lee, Paul Welfare, and others, you KNOW who I mean) who are now shamelessly wrapping themselves in the Flag, will pull all support.

If Bush the Younger doesn't get his "Declaration of War" within a week or two he will never get it. Why isn't the White House seeking it NOW? Because our "allies" have to come on board. We are not only going to try to bring in the Europeans and Russians, but also the Saudis, Jordanians, Egyptians and other assorted mideasterners. "A Grand Coalition."

My wish (belief) is that we should have a Declaration of War by the EOB today. Tomorrow we should announce to the world that any country harboring terrorists, ANY terrorist (related to this attack or not) has 24 hours to turn them over. If they do not comply their country will be annihilated, wiped from the face of the Earth. We will then occupy, in great force, the territory of the, now non-existant, country. We will provide them with a Constitution (ala Douglas MacArthur) and in 5 or 10 years we will turn the country over to a new government, maybe. Liberal use of nuclear weapons should be considered.

If there is the slightest hint that oil will stop flowing we should Nationalize as many Saudi, Kuwaiti and Iraqi oil fields as we need.

This is a good thing, NWO paranoiacs aside. Article V presents a united front to terrorist attackers - "You mess with me and you're messing with all my friends, too". Furthermore, it gives us more striking power with the use of NATO military and bases.

America has taken one on the chin. We're starting to shake it off and just wait until we get our legs underneath us.

I hope the other nations of NATO can locate their cajones and use them for once.

Right now, the last thing the NATO countries want to do is to get in Bush's way. Their economic applecart is teetering on the brink as market confidence plummets. And all because of this attack.

Might even do some harm by making the response too political. Certainly it could make the decision making too political, if we let it. Consultations, consenses building, and other happy horse apples are not what is needed. What is needed is swift, decisive action. The retribution should be terrible, to discourage other from doing the same sorts of things, and other nations from supports such acts of war against the people of the United States.

The attack on the Pentagon is one thing, especially if had been done with an aircraft not loaded with innocent travelers. However, the attack on the WTC makes this worse, much worse than the attack on Pearl Harbor. Both the Pentagon and Pearl Harbor are military facilities, legitimate targets for countries at war, or starting one. The WTC is a civilian target and the people there were complete innocents. A very despicable act.

That's fine. We could use their help. There are probably 30-40,000 Islamic death cult jihadists that need to die right now. They are in Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria and the PA. They follow men and groups like Bin Laden, Khomeinei (now dead), Rafsanjani, Hezbullah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, the PLO, DFLP, and PFLP. All Jihadists must be killed before they murder us. They want complete Islamic death cult dominion over the entire world. This is not a political war it is religious and cultural. Islam is a beautiful religion, but these scum have perverted it into a death cult that has no respect for human life, they will die killing us to get into heaven. We have no choice but to kill them before they murder us again.

We don't need a declaration of war. We need a declaration of Jihad. That is the only thing these death cultists understand. We need the president to stand up and say "We, the Western World, are declaring Jihad on all Islamic fundamentalists. We will kill you, bury you in pigskin, and burn your villages to the ground. We will slice you to pieces, and bomb you, and torch you, and piss on your graves. Wherever you are, we are coming for you."

Islam is a fine religion, I have no beef with Muslims. It is the Jihadists, the fundamentalists, the Jihadists who think that murdering us in the advancement of their cause will get them a pass into the highest levels of heaven. It is the one's who want to control the world under Islamic law. They must be eradicated from the face of the earth. You don't offer peace to Jihadists. You offer them Jihad. The western world has trouble understanding their mentality. I suggest everyone spend time looking up the meaning of Jihad and how it has been applied against the west. The west had it's own Jihad in 1492 during the Crusades, but we have grown beyond this mentality. These fundamentalists are still stuck in a 1492 mentality. They are in a crusade against western culture. We must fight them as they would fight us, kill them before they murder us.
