HOW SHALL WE WAGE WAR?

HOW SHALL WE WAGE WAR?

I think we all agree with the President of the United States, that America will "make no distinction" between the terrorists responsible, and the nation-states that harbor them. So how shall we wage this coming war?

Shall we lob a couple of Tomahawks at another aspirin factory? Shall we join with the NATO nations and Israel to overwhelm and destroy Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, and the other terrorism-sponsoring nations with massive conventional invasion? Shall we use nuclear weapons on Osama Bin Laden's hiding places until we finally get him?

How should our nation wage this war?

We're Freepers. We have a voice. Let's review our national options, and then send a united voice to our national government.

Let's talk about what should be done. No flaming - let's try to come up with a realistic, pragmatic, and just response to this utterly foul act of vicious mass murder inflicted upon our citizens, on our soil.

Best regards to all,

Americans need to drop our notions of civilization and virtue and innocence when dealing with the lesser peoples inhabiting the terrorist world. That world, like ours, includes businessmen, soldiers, housewives, and children - but they are not like us.

They haven't been trained in political correctness and tolerance, they never pray for peace, they don't love their enemy. They are the embodiment of HATRED. They speak the language of hate 24/7, they pray for the death of their enemies and they cheer violence, offering their children as martyrs.

We cannot apply our Constitutional rights to them. They don't want them. They want us to die. They want to celebrate carnage. Rights? They don't speak the language of rights unless they are making demands and telling lies.

Drop the plea for "tolerance" and realize that there is no moral equivalence between America and the people of Islamic terror.

How can we call martyrdom "cowardly acts"? Do we not understand what the the term "holy war" means?

Our enemy has been convinced they are engaged in a jihad - a holy war for Islam. That means everyone plays a part in the war. They all fight together in their own way - they hide and support the leaders, they celebrate the dead heroes, they offer themselves and their children as shields, they pray constantly for bloodshed in the name of Allah.

They are not cowards - they are insanely brave fanatics of an evil, false, bloodthirsty religion.

Let us see the enemy clearly and recognize its twisted concept of God, duty, life and honor. It is the child of the father of lies and doomed to die.

When we fight against terrorism as we must now, we will not fight for peace. We will fight for the annihilation of our enemy. There is a difference.

May God grant us understanding, wisdom, strength, courage and victory over our enemies in truth, justice and righteousness.

From now on we must stop thinking like witless victims of jihad and believe in our hearts that we are the victors of this holy war in the name of God - not Allah.

ok....

1. Adopt "Corleone" Strategy, Hit all the countries that we know support and harbor terrorists. Hit them hard.

2. Invade the above countries and occupy them.

3. From this position, search and destroy all terrorist activities and strongholds. Use deadly force.

4. Once we "win" in each country, it becomes "ours" A new state in the USA, we also get all natural resources available.

5. With this strategy, we avenge our losses, bring freedom and democracy to the effected countries, and take over control of the world's oil supply.

6. No one will dare mess with us ever again.

First, thing - immediately

- President should get Congressional "Declaration of War" against an identified terrorist organization, to included any country assisting in such operation.

FOR the period that the "Declaration of War" exists:

- ARM all U.S. domestic pilots (they are mostly ex-military anyway).

- INTL Flight Pilots, put US Marshalls on all U.S. flight patterns.

- FREEZE all Immigration for a period of 6 to 12 months.

- DESTROY entire country's infrastructure (minus hospital / schools) that are responsible for harboring terrorists involved in WT bombings.

For starters we should rescind the policy that states that we will not assassinate leaders of other countries. Let Sadam et.al. know that the thump they just heard in the middle of the night just might be the sound of their bodyguard dropping to the floor after a US commando just slit his throat.

Instruct the Joint Cheifs to use any and all non-nuclear force in a massive, merciless attack on any and all known terrorist/terrorist sympathizer positions. Use extreme prejudice.

IMHO - The nuclkear option will only serve to build sympathy for the attacked.

I will not be surprised if we introduce these folks to some new technology...

Absolutely. Pull the plug, stick a fork in them, they're done. Half of the Arab world now stands a chance of becoming a US possession.

Leave the UN out of it; all they'll do is curtail our effort, like last time in Iraq.

Arm the flight attendants as well. If my grandmother (99 years young) can shoot people breaking into her house, flight attendants can shoot terrorists.

I agree with everything everyone has said so far, even this. Problematic with it, though, would be terrorists overpowering them and taking their weapons, -- since they interact with passengers the whole time.
Possible solutions? (Have them interact less?) (The food stinks anyway, maybe we could skip the meals.)

First, identify the perpetrators. We don't need 100% accuracy here, as we're not doing a mathematical proof; preponderance of evidence will do nicely. Then, a formal declaration of war against said perpetrators and the state(s) harboring them is needed.

Next, a proclamation to the world that we welcome the assistance of any other nations willing to assist us in defeating our enemies, but that we will not heed any efforts to dissuade us from this just war. Further, any attempts to impede us in the prosecution of this war will be deemed acts of war in themselves and met with an appropriate response.

Now having prepared our course, we need to soften up the infrastructure of the enemies by taking out their means of communication and transportation and reducing their air defense systems. Having done so, we need to put troops on the ground to destroy their bases, personnel, and command structure. This is of utmost importance. No war is won from the skies. Once their military and terrorist capability is reduced, we need to institute a closely overseen protectorate in the previously independent countries. It must be seen that any country bearing responsibility for an attack on the United States will cease to exist as an independent entity.

I haven't called for the use of nukes (I was a nuclear missile crewman in the Army, so I have some experience here) because while they inflict a lot of damage they would be very unlikely to completely exterminate the leadership of the countries and organizations that have done these deeds. For that you need bullets.

And we're trying to get our kids to accept responsibility for their actions?
Here's the situation: the "neighbors" down the block are having a fight. We go over. We get a bloody nose. Do we:
a) go home, patch ourselves up after having learned a (painful) lesson; or,
b) go back with a gas can and torch the "neighbors" house?

assassinate leaders of other countries.

I disagree. Our government, especially after Clinton, demonizes other leaders because that works to get the common folk worked up. Forget the leaders, we need to knock out their breeders, or at least knock them up with different gene stock. The choices are: make love or make war. War is a natural part of human evolution. For it to do its job the whole opposing population and their culture must be altered. Plinking off the leaders as they pop up will just make it harder to negotiate a surrender.

Arm nobody. People who have guns given to them don't respect them, and don't learn how to use them even when they are sent at great expense (but none of their own) to training seminars.

However, allow anyone who wishes to arm himself with anything he likes--captain, copilot, navigator, flight attendant, passenger, maintenance crewman, anyone. Those minimum-wage metal-detector operators everybody's complaining about: lay 'em off, let 'em get jobs at McDonald's, sell the equipment, buy more airplanes.

At the very least, strike down federal regulations against the carrying of arms on airliners and let the airlines make their own policy.

Re-post from yesterday:
________________________________________________

It will be relatively simple to find out who's responsible for the hijackings and bombing of the World Trade Center and US Pentagon. Only very few organizations have the resources to pull it off. Once responsibility is confirmed, there is no question that there must be justice. Failure to eliminate those responsible will only embolden their sympathizers. Any remnants of the organization(s) responsible for this attack would be the target of massive admiration from the enemies of the US as well as the beneficiary of great military and financial resources.

The next attack could be nuclear.

The real question will soon be, HOW to retaliate.

We're all outraged, and we all want to make the attackers pay dearly, but the BEST response, and the BEST punishment will be a product of cool heads and steel resolution.

We have a brief window of opportunity now were we will essentially be given a free hand by the world community to undertake any reasonable response. Our actions will probably involve a declaration of war.

Our reply may include anything from bombing of host counties' military, government and/or economic centers, all the way up through a complete and total military invasion, occupation and colonialisation of nations.

1) Our leadership will have to act quickly before international sympathy dries up.
2) Or leadership will need to measure and distribute responsibility.
3) Military opportunities will need to be assessed.
4) Targets will need to be prioritized.
5) And finally, our capabilities will need to be measured. We certainly will not be able to take every military action that we would wish. Or military is half the size that is was ten years ago.

In our favor, Bush's foreign affairs and defense team is the absolute best that could possibly be assembled. Whether one agree with Bush's politics or not, he as well as Cheney and Powel have the exact experience, credibility and contacts that are required for the kind major military operation that will be required.

Rest assured that or nation will be united behind whatever actions are undertaken. We have pulled together well against aggression many times in our history, and we proved as recently as 1990 in Desert Storm that we will still unite against an enemy of humanity.

I'm sure all of our greatest sympathies go out to all the people and families of people who were killed or injured by this stupid and horizons act.

My 2 cents on what we should do:

We should not be concerned about retaliating against the "right" terrorist organization. That's like saying "I don't want to kill ALL the roaches in my house, just the one that walked across the pot roast".

We should simply take the most up-to-date list of known world terrorist organizations and start eradicating them. But just start checking off groups on the list until there are no more groups on the list. Then start again at the top and take care of mopping up anyone that got through the process the first time.

We won't get 'em all (just like roaches), but we'll take out a lot.

There are no "innocent" terrorists.
