I thought about posting this:

as a separate post, but decided FR was clogged enough as it is. As a sort-of former, sort-of professional driver ( wrecker service ) I have a great deal of empathy for the nonsense truckers are subjected to by the state, federal, and even local governments. But I suspected it would would get scant attention today.

As awful as these attacks were, so far I see nothing we can't survive readily.

My many travels around this land have always proved a couple of things:

1- Most Americans are surprisingly good, decent people, but
2- don't get 'em mad at you!

I just read "morning of horror" and I don't agree with anything they said; especially the part about Clinton and Schumer shutting down the internet and Rush Limbaugh cheering them on.

What is this garbage? And, Backhoe, what is your take on this (not just the article - but the event of yesterday)??

Hi- yeah, that L. Neil Smith piece *is* garbage, IMO. I generally like ST fine, don't know why they tossed that one in the mix!

Well, the loss of life is appalling- though it really is no great surprise. Terrorist organizations have grown less fond of "small potatoes" operations like hijacking an individual airplane in favor of the "make a big splash" operation that really gets attention.

Never forget, the purpose of terrorism- besides drawing attention to whatever cause the terrs represent- *is* terror. The hope of paralyzing the target, causing the government to enact draconian laws & restrictions that will alienate the citizens and destabilise the society further, etc.

Unfortunately, America has been long overdue for such an incident, and now it's happened. I hope it will serve to awaken the terrible remorseless resolve that we have shown in the past to identify, locate, and hound these creeps into oblivion.
