I was so upset yesterday, I left work and went home. They had evacuated our local Federal building and the two blocks surrounding it. University classes were cancelled. Everyone was (and is) in a state of shock.
After talking to my mother, sisters, and children, I talked to DJ. It seems everyone wants to talk to "family" right now.
Of course, with everything going on, my hubby comes home with a rattlesnake. I hate cleaning rattlesnakes...it was still twitching. But, it tastes good.
Tony Blair has issued a very strong statement. I will get the link to that in a minute. Also, Putin sent a wire offering to help.
Some months ago I wrote about a book called The Fourth Turning. In that book, the authors put forth a cyclical view of history, in which each cycle culminates in a gradual unravelling of society, culminating in a crisis. Once the crisis is reached and passed through, like a great gate of history, American society is completely changed.
The last Fourth Turning was WWII. Pre-war America and post-war America were very, very different.
One of the attributes of a crisis of this nature is that it is not predctable, although one can see in hindsight what caused it. I believe this is such a crisis.
America's course will change because of yesterday. We will be a different people, hopefully better. Our course has been set by events unexpected, and we will need to band together and overcome, much as our parents and grandparents did during WWII.
Attitudes in society will change almost overnight. It will be necessary for the country to band together, forge new alliances overseas, and all of us will need to be prepared for sacrifices, large and small. I think we will make it through this with our honor and our nation intact.
I'm just checking in, see who is here, and reading.
I'll be on the road all day and will check back later. Prayers to all!
The last time something like this happened, America woke up out of an isolationist slumber and turned the "Thousand-Year Reich" into a pile of rubble....
We shall see if this generation has the Iron in its soul to do it again--
Interesting times!
News:The UN is pulling its people out of Afghanistan.
Also, Ollie North said his sources at the Pentagon say that the death toll there is going to be much higher than the 100-150 first thought.
Because of your praising of Fox & Friends last week, I was watching it yesterday morning when all this mess started.
Rarely, rarely had I watched it before, especially on a "normal" day.
I spoke to DJ also yesterday and she was really upset. She gave blood then went to Mass. She was worried about Chairman, as I'm sure we all were.
If the Arabs want to meet Allah so bad, I think it's time we helped them on their way. I don't believe I remember EVER being so angry. I would not object one whit if every one of them was nuked.
I won't post the pic I want to, to save space, but it would be the one of both buildings burning with the title of: Bill Clinton's Legacy. I believe this with all my heart and firmly believe he led us to this point.
Stay well and pray.
My sister called at noon....My b-i-l had left Madrid early in the morning Indiana time, and she didn't know where he was.
Her e-mail later in the afternoon reported that the plane had headed back to Spain.
Prayers for all Americans overseas, far from home, and especially those vulnerable in not-so-friendly countries.
Back soon!
Guiliani press conference coming up...
I was very nervous yesterday, my husband works in a refinery. They went on high alert, but how do you stop a plane?
In my corner of the world there were lines at the gas stations and the stores were very busy. The checker said business picked up about noon.
I don't know what to say about yesterday. I was shocked to hear about Barbara Olsen.
I've been heartened to hear they are finding survivors in the rubble.
