A time for leadership

In assessing the vicious act of war perpetrated yesterday against the United States, it is worth recalling the immediate reaction of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the wake of the unprovoked, premeditated attack on Pearl Harbor. In an address to Congress seeking a declaration of war, Mr. Roosevelt, noting that the "the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked," asserted that the date of aggression, Dec. 7, 1941, "will live in infamy." So, too, Sept. 11, 2001.

I saw the Congress stand in unity and sing "God Bless America." I have never felt so proud of my corny, unsophisticated country. Even Daschle looked almost noble. Dick Army hugging Barbara Mikulski, no less.

I sincerely appreciate the effort toward unity, and God bless the United States of America.

So glad you mentioned that....I choked up, and I don't do that very often.
The pessimist in me has to wonder how long it will last, but it certainly reflected well on Congress for today.

It was a truly stunning sight. For once I don't suspect that demonstration was planned in advance. Maybe there is hope for this country yet.

I don't think the singing was planned, because a couple of them started to leave. Then they started singing, and got louder. It was truly a wonderful sight.
