Morgan Stanley is a stockbrokerage firm. There probably is at least one insurance company in there.

I thought of AON as well and they've got a special front page at aon.com right now with emergency info that says they had a staff of about 1100 people in Tower 2. Was it them?

Morgan Stanley is HQ's in the WTC. A friend has all her assets tied up with them and her local broker called and said their assets might be offline for a while- meaning, they would not be getting any money, possibly for a while.

MSDW.com

No confirmation of all living on MSDW.com. It did say the company had 3500 employed at WTC.

Those assets would be held at their Bank, anyway, which under the circumstances, the NY Federal Reserve will guarantee. The tricky thing is going to be certificates that were held in street name by the firm...they have since burned up.Mostly those held by MS, as a major bond and currency trader.

Whoever they worked for, we have to brace for the psychological shock of dealing with so many thousands dead. This is the time when we see what America is made of.

Yes. In my previous job (I got laid off) I had customers and friends
at AON Insurance, Marsh and McClellan, Morgan Stanley and AIG.
Those just of the top of my head.

I think I've lost some friends there, as so many have.
I just need to wait and hope.

Dont know how to post links, exerpt from article:

Morgan Stanley Says WTC Staff Survived

Miraculously, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co., the largest tenant in the World Trade Center, distributed a memo to employees in other cities earlier Tuesday saying that Trade Center personnel had survived the attack and apparently were all right.

The memo also said the investment firm's senior management had been at the company's midtown Manhattan headquarters when the deadly assaults on the towers occurred.

"As a dual-headquartered firm, we expect to have operations up and functioning tomorrow," a Morgan Stanley employee said the memo reported.

It added that financial advisers should reassure clients that their records are safe, and pass on a hotline number to call should they have questions.

An estimated 3,500 employees worked for Morgan Stanley in the South Tower, where the firm occupied about 50 floors.

AON would be my guess. They have a large presence there.

They have people on various floors from about 80 to 100 in the second building hit. I know of one person who made it out from the 99th floor of the second building.
