A poster theorized that the hijackers who brought down that plane which crashed in SW PA may have wanted to slam it into the Bessie Point nuclear plant.
Where is it? Inquiring minds want to know.

The plane was originally headed to California, the plane made a turn over Cleveland and the pilot asked for a change of destination saying he wanted to head to Washington, D.C. Why the plane crashed we don't know yet.

On Fox news they reported that the military thinks they know the target of flight 93, the plane that crashed in PN. There is a nearby fort that has an underground national control center. I'm still wondering if we shot down this flight,or if it crashed on its own.

My speculation. Bessie Point is in Ohio on Lake Erie. Toledo Edison. 2 large reactors.

That would be Davis-Besse near Toledo. But that does not appear to have been the target.
Information on all licensed plants is available at NRC Nuclear Plant Information Books

The Perry Nuclear Plant is only about 75 miles from Pittsburgh. Davis Besse makes no sense its on the Ohio/Michigan border. Perry is in Ohio nearer the Pa.border.
My personal opinion is that the pilot trashed the plane rather than hit Pittsburgh

My speculation. Nuke plant considered target *by me* because it sits on Lake Erie and is larger than the one to the West (Detroit Edison, Monroe MI).
Could have also been the result of a struggle in the cockpit but I have to wonder what target in Western PA would cause large devastation?
A not well known National Defense Center is a stretch given the profile of the earlier targets.
The terrorists were tatgeting structures of symbolism but would also contain very large collateral losses.
Bessie came to mind as a target due to the collateral damage in the lake.

Thanks for the info.

Also, Bessie is one of a few 2 core/reactor plants in the US.

The "pilot" of this plane hijacked it over Cleveland, shut off the transponder, and informed ground control that he needed a new heading, they weren't heading for the west coast, they were going to DCA. I bet we shot it down.

It evidently went straight into the ground. I hope they find it.

Howlin - sorry I don't know of Bessie Point, but the Limerick nuclear plant is about 25 miles from me...... they have been under major security all day..... and, I thought I heard earlier today that the plane that crashed in Somerset County, PA WAS shot down..... in all the confusion perhaps I didn't hear that....

Why the plane crashed we don't know yet......local Philly TV tonight is carrying rumors from the area of the crash that the plane was shot down because authorities by then knew what was going on and that it was heading back toward Washington - they had had calls from on board that they were being hijached - the plane went into the ground upside down and at a steep angle...no comments from the authorities...

I did notice they aren't really talking about it. After I heard about the pilot telling ground control he was changing destinations, I figured they had enough time to scramble some planes and take them out. Just my guess.

Widespread devastation? Near SW Penn? Try Fort Detrick, MD in a direct line from where that plane went down and DC. But underground command center, why? NOT! Try USAMRIID US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases. That's right ebola, anthrax, you name it, they got it.
I know....FRIGHTENING....
