I heard that there was a car bomb that went off in front of the State Department. I was holed up in a stupid high school all day and could not get to the internet or FoxNews, but I think I heard this on the local Portland, OR channel.

I agree that this is not the last that thing that will happen. Whomever did this knows that once the US has found out who this was with a 100% sureness we will Retaliate and I believe that they will have a way to deal with us. Especially since Russia has nuclear ballistic missiles unacounted for. And the only countries that have the resources to buy these WMD'sare ariab oil countries. So i suggest that before we attack we should know everything about our enemy so they would never have the chance to continue on there genocidal rampage.

Did anyone hear the Rumsfeld interview right before Schummer and Clinton spoke to the press? It was GREAT!
Here's how it went:
Interviewer -We hate to interrupt you, but New York senators Schummer and Clinton are about to address the media.
Rumsfeld -(REALLY Sarcastically) OH, I CAN'T WAIT!
My wife and I almost fell out of our chairs!

You actually think the Dems will forget by October? We're already in the budget battle.
You think the Dems will be willing to argue for cuts in Bush's proposed military budget(as they were last week)..... while the public is outraged over this attack on our country?
Even the Dems couldn't be that stupid.

I will bet the farm they blame Bush for being weak and try to add a pittance to the defense budget.

I'll bet the farm he won't. Liberals have a short memory They, the Dims in Congres are already using the incident, a very inadequate word, to justify cutting National Missle Defense, rather than to bolster other aspects of our military. Their solution, more federal agents, more "stings", more intrussive surviellence, more loss of our freedoms. You can't have enough police to prevent something like this, and even you could, you wouldn't want to have that many. The solution lies in deterrence, but for that to be credible, retribution must be swift and nasty for this one.

What else is new with the Clintons? Wherever they go, people seem to die or end up in court. Wonder whether that nut who got entangled in the Statue of Liberty recently was a prelude.

May God have mercy on us all! Time to roll the Empire back and stop meddling in the affairs of others. America is a Republic, not an Empire and this is the result of Empire overstretch. Being Globocop is not what we need to make America safe. Killing half a million Iraqis via sanctions and bombing Serbia back to the stone age does not make us beloved in the eyes of the world.

They have attacked the symbol of out ecnomic might - World Trade Center.
They have attacked the symbol of out military might - The Pentegon.
Will they attack the symbol of our cultural might? (Hollywood)

No, what we need to do is kick the living crap out of those responsible for this. Until that is done, we don't back down one millimeter.
Once this task is done, then we can discuss changes in our conduct of foreign policy. But to fall back now is to merely encourage more attacks.
But right now, it's time to kick ass and take names, and send whoever did this to a very warm place.

I heard this too, but I believe it was David Hackworth, not Rumsfeld . . .
