From about 50 miles outside NYC, saw three Chinooks in formation heading towards the city.

Don't see how. Carriers have to be at sea and under way to launch and recover airplanes.

Saw a partial report on CNN about Navy Frigates deploying. They are a fleet air defence component. Could shoot down intruding aircraft.

An Aegis Missile Cruiser and a couple of frigates can shoot down a lot of airplanes

A Carrier Battle group 100 miles off the Coast can suply combat air patrols, and military grade radar coverage.

More likely CG-47 "Ticonderoga" -class cruisers and DDG-51 "Burke" -class destroyers. Both have the Aegis phased array radar and vertically launched surface to air missiles.

Both carriers have extensive hospital facilities.

Absolutely tiny and barbaric compared to land based hospitals. Been there, done that. This is NOT why they're there.

NYC's Next Target?

With the WTC towers now gone, what are the next likly targets in New York City? More buildings on Wall Street? The Empire State or Chrysler buildings?

I sure am glad we saved all that money by cutting the Defense Department over the past 12 years.

So, we look for a war in the Middle-East and China decides its time to move on Taiwan. Now what?

When Wall Street opens up, its going to be fugly.
