List of Planes That Crashed Today

Details on the planes that crashed Tuesday:

-American Airlines Flight 11: A Boeing 767 en route from Boston to Los Angeles. The plane was carrying 81 passengers, nine flight attendants and two pilots. The location of the crash has not been determined.

-American Airlines Flight 77: A Boeing 757 en route from Dulles Airport near Washington to Los Angeles. The plane was carrying 58 passengers, four flight attendants and two pilots. The location of the crash has not been determined.

-United Airlines Flight 93: A Boeing 757, crashed southeast of Pittsburgh while en route from Newark, N.J. to San Francisco. The plane was carrying 38 passengers, two pilots and five flight attendants.

-United Airlines Flight 175: A Boeing 767. The flight was bound from Boston to Los Angeles. It was carrying 56 passengers, two pilots and seven flight attendants. The airline would not say where the plane crashed.

Assuming everyone dead, including the terrorists (I think it safe to assume our boys downed them...and just think of the terror in doing that...after being hijacked) that totals 266 poor souls minus a few hell bound cowards.

I always read that planes are _so_ crowded these days that people get bumped all the time. I always read that planes are _so_ crowded these days that "air rage" is getting to everyone.

Yet here we have four planes hijacked during daylight hours and _all four_ are almost empty when they _could_ be carrying more than a hundred people each?

Could the terrorists have chosen flights they knew to be low passenger count planes? Mark W.

Those plane were picked because of their destination and departure time. A cross country flight carried more fuel than a local flight and will make a bigger boom. The 09:00 deadline -- probably chosen to maximize civilian casualties -- determined which planes could be used. The early hour probably had more to do with it than the economy. Later flight would have been much more crowded

Initial reports had multiple hits to each tower, and a crash in the Capitol Mall (I saw this on yahoo.com). Were those proven to be false?

The bad economy didn't save lives. These terrorists did not pick these flights to kill passengers, they clearly were targeting the most humanoid-rich real estate in the USA. A BOS-LAX B757/767 is going to be loaded down with fuel. This fuel would be burning throughout the WTC, long after the plane crashed. The heat from burning Jet-A would weaken the steel which held up the buildings, and the resultant collapse of the buildings was inevitable.

Glad to hear that the borders with Mexico and Canada are still open. After all, we wouldn't want to offend anyone.

It's a huge sh*+ sandwich and we are all going to have to take a bite.

Every flight I've taken this year (many!) has been full, including the 6:45 am departures. Either God kept people off these flights or they were targeted because of less passengers to subdue.

Let me, my dear American friends from FreeRepubublic and actually all Americans to tell you at this day so hard for all of you that my thoughts and prayers are with you. We can disagree, we can exchange sometimes harsh words but THIS IS HORRIBLE. It is even worse than some Hollywood movies and that should say a lot. God Bless free America!

My wife heard on the radio that a pasenger on flight 93 called police from bathroom to report that was high jacked. Wonder if it was shot down?

That's a good guess! It did seem odd to me that there were so few people on those HUGE planes. Also, wonder how many of those "passengers" were really terrorists. How could they have overtaken a whole crew? And, of course, they had help on the ground.
