Remarks by the President After Two Planes Crash Into World Trade Center
White House Website ^ | 11 Sep 2001 | G. Bush

Posted on 09/11/2001 10:23:28 AM PDT by KC Burke

THE PRESIDENT: Ladies and gentlemen, this is a difficult moment for America. I, unfortunately, will be going back to Washington after my remarks. Secretary Rod Paige and the Lt. Governor will take the podium and discuss education. I do want to thank the folks here at Booker Elementary School for their hospitality.

Today we've had a national tragedy. Two airplanes have crashed into the World Trade Center in an apparent terrorist attack on our country. I have spoken to the Vice President, to the Governor of New York, to the Director of the FBI, and have ordered that the full resources of the federal government go to help the victims and their families, and to conduct a full-scale investigation to hunt down and to find those folks who committed this act.

Terrorism against our nation will not stand.

And now if you would join me in a moment of silence. May God bless the victims, their families, and America. Thank you very much.

>>>a full-scale investigation to hunt down and to find those folks who committed this act.<<<<

Suggestion:
Ask Morton Abramowitz first, the architect of support to radical islamists, from Afganistan, Chechnia, Bosnia, Kosovo to Macedonia

Ask Richard Holbrooke, he might know a word or two

Ask Maddie Albright, she had a part in this shame also

CNN 11:32 a.m. - Gen. Clark tells CNN that Osama bin Laden's terror organization is the only one that has claimed this kind of capability.

Ask those who helped Osama Bin Laden's brother train KLA killers in Kosovo and Macedonia.

It is not blowback it is TREASON.

During ABC live coverage, the smarmy, sanctimoneous, Canadian transplant anchorman Peter Jennings, after President Bush declared that freedom will be defended, made a wisecrack like "Well, it wasn't defended today." The bastard.</font size>

FEMA site says:
Washington, D.C. September 11, 2001 -- FEMA is working closely with the White House and other federal agencies to provide assistance following several apparent terrorism attacks today. High-level meetings between senior officials from all federal agencies and the Vice President and Condolezza Rice are underway.

An operation plan for these types of acts is in place, and FEMA is currently implementing this plan.

FEMA has activated its operations center, and is working closely with the FBI's Strategic Operation Information Center (SOIC). FEMA's SIOC liaison has been activated.

The Department of Justice has immediate responsibility for crisis management. All federal agencies play a role to respond to the affects of these attacks as part of the Federal Response Plan, and FEMA will coordinate these efforts on behalf of President Bush.

Taped remarks from the President from La.:

Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward. And freedom will be defended.""Make no mistake, the United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts."

I strongly suggest that all Americans remain calm and don't overreact with remarks attacking our national leadership.

This is a time when all citizens of America have to unite and support the efforts and the decisions of President Bush, our military leaders and all the men and women of our armed forces throughout the world.

Terrorism has hit home and now American's must regroup and rebound. We must find the culprits ASAP and take the appropriate military actions in retaliation against these scumbag bastards.

George didn't say much, but maybe not much was required at this time...

I now realize, right or wrong, how Americans felt about Japanese citizens at the onset of Pearl Harbor...Although I am many states away from Washington/New York, this state is home to the largest Arab community in the U.S....

In my area, you can't go to a convenience store that isn't owned by Arabs...I had talked to one Arab fella who says an Arab gentleman based in Arizona owns many of these places and leases them to other Arabs...One has to wonder, are all these Arabs potential terrorists???

Let's all remember that in the early days of the Oklahoma City bombing investigation, the FBI's investigative focus was almost entirely on finding the arab terrorists who did it.

Who are the culprits??? Who are the enemies of the United States...Iran? Iraq? Libya? Syria? The war is not yet in the Middle East...It is here and now...

I, for one, will be cleaning the dust off my hunting weapons that haven't seen daylight for a number of years...I say be safe, but be ready...

Well, he does point out a problem. The moment a civilian aircraft starts to "misbehave" it should come under real time military scrutiny. With lots of common sense of course, we don't want a commercial aircraft shot down because it deviated from flight path to dodge a squall, etc., but the pilot better have an explanation. Why did no such FAA-military link exist? Is our military budget that much on a shoestring?

AP report on Barksdale remarks prior to Bush resuming flight to secure site unknown.
BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. –– As chaos unhinged New York and Washington, President Bush commanded the full force of the United States government to "hunt down and to find" the terrorists responsible.

"Terrorism against our nation will not stand," he declared Tuesday.

In Florida for a pair of education speeches, the president scrapped his schedule and said, at the first reports of attacks on New York's World Trade Center, that he was hastening back to Washington.

But, with the White House evacuated under threat of attack and his wife hunkered down in an unidentified secure location, the president and Air Force One were rerouted – under escort by military fighter jets – to this Louisiana air base.

In a conference room dotted by portraits of decorated Air Force officers, the commander in chief announced that the U.S. military was on "high-alert status."

"Freedom itself was attacked this morning and I assure you freedom will be defended. Make no mistake. The United States will hunt down and pursue those responsible for these cowardly actions," Bush said.

First lady Laura Bush spoke with her husband by a secure military phone line before he took off from Sarasota, Fla.

Mrs. Bush and a handful of aides were whisked by motorcade from Capitol Hill, where she was to have testified to a Senate committee on education, to a hide-out away from the White House. There, the sequestered group huddled around a single TV in their hide-out and channel-surfed for the latest news, according to one person in the group.

Mrs. Bush also checked with her twin daughters at college to make sure they were safe.

Pakistan - Taliban - America attacks /WRD/ Islamabad, Sept 11, IRNA - Afghanistan ruling Taliban Tuesday strongly condemned attacks in New York and Washington and called for investigations into the incidents.

"We strongly condemn the attacks and condemn those who have carried out these blasts", Taliban envoy to Pakistan Mulla Abdul Salam Zaeef told a news press conference in Islamabad.

"We call for judicial inquiry into the attacks and punishment of those who have done this", Zaeef said.
He ruled out involvement of Osama bin Laden in the attacks and said he (Osama) is unable to carry out such well-organized attacks.
"We have controlled all activities of Osama and he can not contact anyone", he said.
{BINGO--HERE IS ADMISSION}
"It is highly regrettable to blame anyone for the attacks without the completion of investigations", the Taliban envoy said.

Asked about the possibility of any American attack on Afghanistan, he said, "We do not expect any such action. But it would be a big mistake if Afghanistan was attacked".

"They (Americans) will be responsible for any attack on Afghanistan", he warned.

Remarks by the President Upon Arrival at Barksdale Air Force Base
Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana

THE PRESIDENT: I want to reassure the American people that the full resources of the federal government are working to assist local authorities to save lives and to help the victims of these attacks. Make no mistake: The United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts.

I've been in regular contact with the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, the national security team and my Cabinet. We have taken all appropriate security precautions to protect the American people. Our military at home and around the world is on high alert status, and we have taken the necessary security precautions to continue the functions of your government.

We have been in touch with the leaders of Congress and with world leaders to assure them that we will do whatever is necessary to protect America and Americans.

I ask the American people to join me in saying a thanks for all the folks who have been fighting hard to rescue our fellow citizens and to join me in saying a prayer for the victims and their families.

The resolve of our great nation is being tested. But make no mistake: We will show the world that we will pass this test. God bless.

END

I think that about sums it up.

I wonder just how "within" the enemy is.

We knew about the trade center bombing before it happened.

Evidence strongly suggests that we knew about OKC before it happened, and maybe even helped it along.

Those two acts were catalysts for all sorts of anti-terrorism acts, money, and measures, supposedly, anyway.

An attack like this had to involve intense amounts of planning, communication and coordination. How did all of that sneak past our "new and improved" anti-terrorism systems undetected?
