All of what has been happening today, and the last few months, seems to be coming right out of some of Tom Clancy's novels, especially Debt of Honor and hopefully to be followed up by Executive Orders.

My first thoughts when I heard the news was Tom Clancy's
Debt of Honor. Did anyone else immediately think the same thing.
Let's discuss just how the United States of America needs to respond to these acts of war. One thing is clear, Bill Clinton's capitulation to terrorists and refusal to go after those responsible for earlier terrorist attacks has led to those criminals to believe that there would be no retribution against their personal lives. I think it is time for President Bush to sign that "Executive Order", the same one signed in Clancy's Executive Orders.

My first thoughts when I heard the news was Tom Clancy's Debt of Honor. Same here. Unfortunately our president is no Jack Ryan.

our president is no Jack Ryan.Maybe not, but his daddy was the senior spook over at Langley. Does that count?

Go somewhere else right now...we've got bigger things to worry about

Same here. Unfortunately our president is no Jack Ryan. I think you might be surprised. GWB is a cold calculating man who can be ruthless when the situation calls for it. Retribution will be swift and sure.

Sure, that's why he is hiding. Why isn't he at the white house or in New York where the trade towers used to be. Some leader. I'm ashamed that he claims to be a texan.

Probably not, or he/she wouldn't have said it in the first place.

"President Bush to sign that "Executive Order", What executive order would that be? Never read the book.

I wish everyone would quit using the "act of war' phrase.....this is intended to create a frenzy among the sheeple and the FReeple...and provides MAster Fedgov the cover to infringe and tread further upon the rights and freedoms of the citizens.
I've never read Tom Clancy....guess its time to start?

I was thinking the same thing this morning...wasn't it Executive Orders where they crash a plane into the Capitol building??
To: RnMomof7
I wonder if gunshy would be happy if Bush were to stand in the middle of the Mall in D.C. Geez, who ARE these people?

I'm also thinking of another Tom Clancy novel: "The sum of all fears", where a terrorist nuke is used to try to provoke the US into a war with the whole Muslim world.

I made the comment it sounds like a Tom Clancey Novel.....

The "executive order" in question was Carter's injunction against assassinating world leaders. It was rescinded dramatically, punctuated by smart bombs.
To: connectthedots
I thought the same thing. The similarities are eerie. How do you defend against those willing to die for their cause? I was at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia a few months before the bombing. Suicide bombers are difficult to defend against.
We need to change our stance on assassinations and start taking these leaders out like the Israeli's do.

I believe that it was "Debt of Honor" where the Japaneese pilot crashed a 747 into the capitol.

He was flying away from DC and new york. Praise bush.
