Donate Blood at the Red Cross
9.11.01 | jwalsh07

My wife and I just got back from our local hospital in Northeastern Ct where we went to donate blood. They are going to need lots of it. The Red Cross will be setting up blood banks shortly. We urge you all to help if you can. I know many of us would prefer to gear up and head toward Afghanistan but this is how we can help a little.

By the way, my small community hospital is on alert to accept casualties. There are going to be even more casualties than we have been so far led to believe I think.

I was just about to call my local blood bank, but maybe you could answer my question. It might help someone else as well.
Is it 6 months or one year after surgery before you can donate again?

Thanks for your help.

To find out whether you can donate blood, or to find the nearest donor center, call

1-800-GIVE-LIFE

(1-800-448-3543)

Or click on Give Blood.

I have a standing appointment to give platelets every four weeks, and my next scheduled donation is Saturday. If I can spend 100 minutes hooked up to a machine, any of you can spend 15 minutes on a table.

The Red Cross in Portland Oregon is being overwelmed with volunteer blood donors. They are beginning to take names for appointments tomorrow.
