bump. i would think nearby would include surrounding states. not only that but surrounding states will be low on supply due to sending them off, so i guess surrounding states of surrounding states will need blood.

We are hearing reports via Fox News and so forth that NYC emergency personnel are urging people across the country to give blood over the next 24 - 48 hours. When flights resume (assuming emergency flights will get priority), blood can be flown in to help the overwhelmed trauma centers. Please consider giving blood if you are able to do so.

It is important for everyone ALL OVER THE US TO GIVE BLOOD. They will be diverting blood to the east coast from other locations.

I just returned from giving blood, turns out we were having a blood drive today at work. The blood banks in town (Tucson) are backed up with a 4-5 hour wait so it sounds like there are plenty of people heeding this call.

I just returned from giving blood in Dutchess County, NY. The Red Cross told me donations are being taken at IBM in East Fishkill. They also asked anyone who is O-Positive (universal donor)to go directly to Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
There were other O-Positive people donating when I was at the Hospital.

They just said locally not to give today but wait till tomorrow, DC area hospitals are very busy..
