Los Angeles Police Put on Tactical Alert in Wake of Attack on NYC's World Trade Center

LOS ANGELES (AP) -

The Police Department went on tactical alert Tuesday moments after the World Trade Center terrorist attacks in New York City. There have been no threats in Los Angeles that the police are aware of, police said.

"We are on citywide tactical alert and we have mobilized our Anti-Terrorist Division," Officer Guillermo Campos said. The tactical alert was called about 6:15 a.m.

A tactical alert means officers are held over from the earlier shift to bolster the day shift and police only respond to priority calls, Campos said.

Same here in Dallas forth Worth. We were just notified via radio of a tactical alert and to remain available in our station for situation updates.

DfW airport is locked down and some aircraft will possibly be diverted to Alliance, with passengers..We have been told of a possible all call,

and heard that NYFD/NYPD has called for all firefighters in the state to report for assistance!

Amazing and unprecidented.

My husband works at an Air Force Base here in California, they have been on high alert for a week. They been waiting for something like this to happen.

Even here in Columbia SC, every thing has shut down. Fort Jackson is on total lock down - no traffic in or out. The Air Force Base is on total alert. All federal buildings, the airport . . . everything.

The airport in Green Bay--Austin-Staubel--has been shut down. Roads going into the airport are blocked by police & sheriff's dept. A plane was diverted from landing in Minneapolis to land at our airport....a report that another plane has crashed near Camp David in addition to the one in Pittsburgh.

We are under attack.
