Laura Bush stepping out into spotlight

Laura Bush is shedding her low-profile approach to being first lady. In recent weeks, she has made more appearances around the country with President Bush, made more speeches and given more interviews. Today, the former elementary school teacher and librarian testifies before Sen. Edward Kennedy's education committee to press for more attention to developing the learning skills of children younger than 3. Among the committee members she will face across the witness table is her predecessor, Hillary Rodham Clinton, now a New York senator.

Oh Harry, Harry, Harry, President Bush is pro life and you know that. The President of the United States has to be the President of ALL of the people. I guess we have all forgotten that since for so long they have tended to be so selective about whom they served, for instance Bubba. He delighted in dividing us as a nation. President Bush is trying to bring us together as one nation. Obviously he is swimming upstream, but I for one am glad that he is at least trying.
I still try to believe we are one nation, or at least, we were meant to be!
To show how things have changed, Laura ,being a traditional First Lady, is reported as being something strange after only one administration of a "co President" called Hillary! People seem to think she has redefined the role, when instead she trampled on it. It is Laura Bush who has returned to the role of an unelected support for her husband, not a policy maker. She is the norm, not the aberration Hillary was.

I suppose you can document your claim, right? I mean the pro-life part. The "you know that" part is laughable on its face.

The President of the United States has to be the President of ALL of the people.

I'm in full agreement with you on this one. But let's think about this a minute. Can you think of anyone (with the possible exception of Rosie O'Donnell) who WOULDN'T make a better First Lady than Hellary?

My origial comment stands. Bush caved to the pro-infanticiders. He also caved to the big government pinkos that want the FedGov to fund "scientific research". Just where does the Constitution authorize dumping federal money into labs? "General welfare"? Please... LBJ already took us down that road....

Bush is not a conservative. Neither is his wife. Those are facts.
