I don't know how anyone can say the U.S. is more free than it used to be, but that is what this poll shows. I think for some groups in some situations it may be more free, but for the majority of Americans, government has more and more control over their lives.

You thought they were eroding then (one day before 9/11). They're just about non-existent now. Wonder what the poll would show today.
