Condit Grand Jury Dismisses Obstruction Complaint

A Stanislaus County, Calif., grand jury has dismissed a complaint against California Congressman Gary Condit charging him with suborning perjury and obstruction of justice.

James Robinson, the attorney for former Condit girlfriend Anne Marie Smith, read the grand jury's response to the complaint on "Rivera Live" Monday night.

"The Stanislaus County civil grand jury received your complaint on August 27, 2001. It is the opinion of this jury that the topic of your complaint is not properly within its jurisdiction. Therefore the panel has voted to take no further action in this matter."

Smith had charged that on four separate occasions, Condit tried to get her to lie about their affair to investigators probing the disappearance of 24-year-old intern Chandra Levy.

Appearing on "Rivera Live: with Robinson, Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman said the grand jury's decision vindicated Smith's right to file a citizen's complaint against Condit and vowed to repeat the effort in other counties with jurisdiction over the case.

They are afraid to touch it. One person has already disappeared. They are well aware that they could be next.

That's bologna and you know it. Grand juries make indictments in all sorts of cases, including those who are really bad guys.

So, if he was trying to obstruct justice, he didn't do a very good job at it. Let's just find the body and charge the guy with murder. No more of this penny-ante crap.

I totally agree, however finding the body is another matter. Even if they did, how would they tie this maniac to Chandra's murder? What do they say... means... motive... opportunity.... He had all three but I don't expect the DC police to connect the dots, do you?
