Technology Stock sellers and investors started a stampede of idiots, till the bubble burst. Sure government had a hand but the "invisible hand" gets stupid once in a while too. Now that the capital has been squandered on useless dot.coms it will take a while to recover and growth will be slow.

I think capital gains tax breaks are encouraging investors to sell. Many have made their money and when January came around they booked their profits in the new tax year. The economy isn't bad right now, capital is just leaving stock markets. I have a hunch that alot of money is poised to flow in the China, for various investments there.

Alan Greenspan and his inane insistence to fight off a non-existent demon (inflation) by refusing to lower interest rates until it was too late...and then, rather than accept responsibility (when his hurry to catch up cuts came too little, too late) continued to blow smoke up the Congress's butt by standing by his "I'm trying to keep the economy from overheating" rhetoric when everybody knew he was full of it.

Thanks Alan...good job. Now why don't you resign and spend the rest of your golden years with Andrea. In fact, see if you can talk her into retiring as well. Haven't you both done enough?

You're right, of course............BUT................

A) Congress (yes, both parties) for failing to control a little thing called "spending". It's a travesty, and NO ONE is talking about it (except, it seems, GW......and God love 'im, not enough)

B) Clinton, who understood full well that he could do whatever the hell he wanted to do for the last couple of years (irresponsible spending, idiotic fiscal "policies", ignoring the military....with the full knowledge that the bill would come due and soon), etc., etc., since the impact of that idiocy wouldn't be felt until long after he left office (to the adulation and continued ass-kisses of the world.................)

C) The Democratic Party and their usual enablers in the media for "Never Seeing a Bulls**t 'Social Program' They Didn't Love"........and crucifying anyone who disagrees (disagreed)

D) The Republican Party, for asking and settling for ridiculously small tax cuts and giving every sign of rolling over on capital gains taxes.............while all the while saying squat about true tax reform, and last but certainly not least,

D) The moronic American voter, who continues to elect total, complete idiots into office who seem to understand that the more of OUR money they spend, the longer they'll stay in office and eventually collect obscene "retirements". What a gig.

So...........plenty of blame to go around.
