PRESS RELEASE
On October 12, 2001 the national legal reform coalition, A Matter of Justice (AMOJ) and its NY affiliate, the Americans for Legal Reform, will hold a demonstration at Foley Square in Manhattan, NY.
The time of the demonstration will be 12PM-5PM
Foley Square is the site of the 2nd Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and the New York State Supreme Court. The demonstrators will protest the widespread abuses of the Constitutional rights of citizens by the legal profession throughout America.
Their demands will include a) appointment of legislative and citizens commissions to investigate the abuses of the Constitutional rights of citizens in the legal system; b) due process and reinstatement of the unjustly dismissed federal suits in the 2nd Federal Circuit, the state courts of the comprising states and courts throughout the nation; c) enactment of state and federal constitutional amendments to create citizens observer panels with the power to void unfair judicial process and the mandate to rate judicial performance; d) an end to the absolute judicial immunity; e) an end to the American Bar Association and the state bar associations monopolies.
Amongst the invited guests are representatives of the UN Commission on Human Rights, US and state legislators and civic leaders, representatives of the Libertarian and Green parties. The featured speakers will include Mr. Harvey Cash, President of the Americans for Legal Reform, Ms. Elena Sassower, Coordinator for The Center For Judicial Accountability (CJA); Attorney David Grossack, President of the Citizens Justice Programs (CJP) (In 1999 Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly named Mr. Grossack one of its 'Lawyers of the Year " for his work in the field of constitutional law.); Mr. Frank Butash, advisor to the AMOJ Board of Directors and President of the Connecticut Republican Assembly, Dr. Maureen Polsby, AMOJ vice president and Dr. Jacob Roginsky, a founder of AMOJ and its current president. Two cable access channels committed to filming the event and creating a documentary about AMOJ.
The demonstration is part of the AMOJ program to educate the public about the realities of the American legal system and to create a massive legal reform movement that is capable of forcing a comprehensive reform of the American legal system. In the last six months AMOJ held two similar demonstrations one near the 4th Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va and the other near the US Supreme Court in Washington DC. Mr. Yashua Shekhem'El-Bey is the AMOJ coordinator for this demonstration.
The demonstration will be followed with an introductory lecture on the Limits and Realities of Judicial Immunity in America by Attorney David Grossack and with a two-day AMOJ retreat after that.
