September 10, 2001 -- WASHINGTON - Federal watchdogs today will testify that Andrew Cuomo's "lax oversight" let crooks loot a housing program for the poor that will now cost taxpayers $130 million to bail out.

At issue is Cuomo's role as Bill Clinton's secretary of Housing and Urban Development and his pet home-ownership program for the poor, which collapsed in scandal.

Today's bipartisan congressional hearing was called by Rep. Sue Kelly (R-Westchester), with Reps. Charles Rangel (D-Harlem) - who backs Cuomo's gubernatorial rival Carl McCall - and Felix Grucci (R-L.I.) also expected.

If Charlie Rangel is willing to join the Republicans on this, Little Andy could be all used up.

.... If Charlie Rangel is willing to join the Republicans on this, Little Andy's ambition to be Governor could be into some very rough water......

Normally, I'd say Charlie Rangel was on board only to assure that the Crown Prince didn't really get hurt .... but since Andy Boy is running against McCall it will really be interesting to watch. Rangel will want to see Andy Boy hurt bad enough to force him out of the race but not to be destroyed .... also keep in mind that Andy's married to a Kennedy. I hate to say it but Charlie Rangel will totally control the Republican ..... he is a shrewd piece of work and could end up Speaker if the Dems ever regain control of the house.

We should start a "Tar and Feather Award". Everyone vote for who they'd most like to see tarred and feathered. We could present the winner with a doll, like Oscar, covered in tar & feathers. As much as he hates government waste, I'll bet Bill O'Reilly would announce the winner on his show.
