[history]
A woman was arrested Saturday after she showed a police officer a newspaper article that said police in Suffolk County were looking for her, according to a published report.
Ildiko Varga, 25, was asking the officer if she could sue the New York Post for writing "something bad" about her, and then showed him an article that said police had been looking for her since May 25, the Post reported Sunday. Varga, an au pair from Hungary, allegedly ransacked the Nesconsett, N.Y. home of her employer after locking the woman's 6-year-old daughter in the bathroom. Varga allegedly stole luggage, money and personal belongings from the home before she disappeared, the Post said.

How soon new-comers to our shore adopt the American custom of get-rich-quick by suing deep pockets!

We only have the word of the police, the media, and her unnamed ex-employer that she is alleged to have ransacked the home. What are they really trying to hide? Perhaps her ex-employer is also a policeman! Perhaps her visa had expired and all of society was conspiring against her right to free travel! Perhaps she has information linking the police to the John Peck assassination, the stealing of the McGuckin's land, and the snatching of Brian Christine's bruised and battered kids! We can't be judgmental about anything. The independent facts aren't in yet, and it's just her word against the word of the police, the media, and her ex-employer who must be the police, too. Heck, in my town it's the police who are the au pairs who ransack homes. If the 6-year-old had an Uzi, we wouldn't be discussing this sorry matter anyway. The weak enslave themselves. Yada yada yada. (Holding up a mirror to the idiocy we see around here too often).

The thing that jumps out at me, though, is "She was the fourth au pair the mother had hired through the Au Pair of America agency, which is based in Stamford, Conn."
So what about the previous three? And what about her fabulous "career" is so important that this woman is willing to leave her small child in the care of complete strangers?
Our sick, sick society staggers on...

It's nothing compared to the disease of "hyper-self-ism" that pervades this site.

It's like a disease with you, isn't it? Stupidity is a disease now? Maybe CJ can qualify for an in-house treatment program of some type.
To: Illbay
"hyper-self-ism"Is that your catchy little way of saying 'libertarian'? If so, I think I like CJ's 'moral-liberal' better. They are both equally devoid of intelligence but his has a better ring to it.

LOL. That's quite alright. I filled in the blank just fine all on my own.

I know plenty of idjits that haven't the faintest notion what a "libertarian" is but they are just as slavishly devoted to "self" as any Libertine I've ever stumbled across.
No, my comment was of a more general nature. Not all selfish twits are "Libertines," but virtually all Libertines are selfish twits.

You forgot to mention that an independent commitee has been set up/headed by an ex-state congressman named Key and he says there are underlyiong implications plain as day to a foreign national connection heretofore under-reported (as opposed to un-reported) in the press and ignored by the major media as well as Fox. It is Key's contention that advance warning was received by the parents of the missing child, and they did nothing about, In fact, they were in on it from the start. A John Doe #II was reported passing by on the street an hour earlier - the implication being here that he accompanied the AU pair as she bought breakfast at a McDonalds in their Ryder truck ...

3 teens 'huffing' in car suffer burns, police say
Associated Press
Last Updated: Sept. 9, 2001
Wausau - Three teenagers suffered burns when one lighted a cigarette, igniting the aerosol can of air freshener they had been "huffing" in a car in an attempt to get high, Wausau police said Saturday.
The 15-year-old girl who lighted the cigarette was critically injured and taken to the University of Wisconsin-Madison burn center.
She was in a car at Marathon Park with a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman when the incident happened Friday night, police Lt. Mark Pankow said. The explosion was reported by a parks employee about 9 p.m. Friday.
The three were taken by ambulance to Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. The 15-year-old was transported to Madison, and the other two were treated for their injuries and released, nursing supervisor Esther White said Saturday night.
Pankow said the car's windows were blown out and its frame was damaged by the explosion. He said he was unsure whether anyone would be charged.
According to police reports, the teens were inhaling the fumes from the aerosol spray to get high, and they suffered burns to the arms and faces.
The 18-year-old said they were driving around Wausau, spraying and sniffing the air freshener, and rainfall prompted them to go to the park, where they continued the activity until the explosion occurred, according to police.
The teens hid the cans and other paraphernalia in a garbage bin, but officers found a receipt for the air freshener and one can under a car seat, police said.

I originally wondered if she was just some dummy but now I am not so sure. The woman went through au pairs like dirty underwear. How do we know she didn't fire the au pair the day before, lock the child up and do this to her and then claim the au pair did it? I am going to be on the fence about this since the mother is so obviously problematic, too.

Another one for my "stupid criminals" list! I love it! I have a great book, entitled "America's Least Competent Criminals", by Chuck Shepherd, the same guy who writes the "News of the Weird" column (http://www.newsoftheweird.com/
One item read something along the lines of, "a man entered a police station and asked if they could please check and see if there were any warrants out for his arrest. There were, and he was promptly arrested."
