Israeli army alleged to use village residents as shields

BEIT JALA, West Bank - First, Majida Shehadeh heard the rumble. But it wasn't until the overpowering smell of gasoline wafted into her parents' home one day last month that the Palestinian mother of two knew that Israeli tanks were near.

She had moved her family and relatives into what she thought was a haven - a century-old stone house far from where shooting in Beit Jala usually occurred. But Israeli soldiers apparently liked the home's breathtaking view of the terraced hillside village below, a perfect spot to look down on Palestinian gunmen trying to hide on narrow, winding streets.

This cannot be true becuase the fatah don't give a damn about the villagers, so using them as Israeli shields would be ridiculous.

When the soldiers left, Shehadeh went downstairs to the living room where the soldiers had slept and where she had seen piles of garbage on her trips to the bathroom. She expected to find a mess. But there was nothing but overturned tables and chairs. The only things Shehadeh has to remember the army's occupation are a broken chair leg, spilled sand and three spent M-16 rifle casings that her children found under a rug.

"They cleaned everything," she said.

Yeah, real madmen, cleaned everything, picked up after themselves, real crazies, eh? Don't play the propaganda game; the Israelis are well aware of the desire on the part of the worldwide media to post anything derrogatory to the IDF. I know many Israelis and I know them to be very conscious of world opinion ... but the nation of Israel has now a right to exist. They are surrounded by hundreds of millions of people who want their extermination, or at least the leaders of those people call for that, both secular and religious leaders. Do the avergae Palestinians living alongside the Israelis want genocide? Not likely, but the fatah definitely does and doesn't care that common Palestinian folk are sacrificed in fatah's 'greater good'. I don't trust anyone who claims they will bless you by sacrificing you or your children to die in their 'holy' cause.

Sounds like a-typical anti-Israeli propoganda. Anytime the quoted residents English is better than American school kids, I know it's canned.

As for backing these soldiers, I'm just wondering when the eviction notice will be served on Afarat. 64 zones sectored off; he moves wrong one time too many and his whereabouts are know; he's a casuality of war along with his 35,000 terrorists.

instead of evacuating them to safety.

I have found that in everyone of these anti-Israeli stories you can find the words/phrase that proves its level of BS. We should start a FreeRepublic Bulls**t Component Index (FBCI). Rate them from 1-10.

Here Israel is being blamed for not "evacuating" some Arab people. Just imagine if a bus came and these people were told they were going to be "evacuated". Where to? Yasser's basement? A Tel Aviv hotel?

Entire forests would have had to be chopped down to publish the world's anti-Israel resolutions if such an "evacuation" had taken place.

On the FBCI this story gets a 6 (only because there are those that are much worse)

No civilians were reported shot or injured during the incursion.

The Israelis supposedly used them a human shields in a gun fight, but none were shot or injured.

Something is wrong here.

"Nor is their anything wrong with attacking "civilians" who have stolen your land, anymore than it is wrong to attack a civilian stealing your things"

So, are you saying, that bombing civilian women and children in a pizza parlor, is OK?

Minutes after the tanks rolled by, Shehadeh said, soldiers knocked on her door.

Oh, the horror of it all! They actually knocked on the door? Oh my!!

She said they swept in, forced seven adults and six children into a small room,

Probably without a single air freshener or deoderant stick amongst them. I cannot imagine how they must have suffered from being forced to smell each other.

But seriously, how does one accomplish usage of a so-called hostage as a palie shield by putting them in a room? This sounds more like the Israeli army was trying to keep them safe.

and then began firing out of windows of adjoining rooms, putting her and her family in the direct line of return fire from Palestinians.

He who lives in a combat zone sometimes gets to play.

No doubt there will be further details of atrocities come out over time - perhaps the Israelis used the telephone and made lots of long distance calls, raided the refrigerator, and left dirty dishes in the sink.

And now I shall remove my tongue from my cheek....

...left dirty dishes in the sink

Not a chance because the article said:

"They cleaned everything," she said.

Liberty and justice is indeed a holy cause, and those who die for it are heros, just like those who died in the American Revolution.

Hah! In what mythical Arab county do the people enjoy liberty? What kind of liberty does the PA grant it's own? And when you slander the soldiers of the American Revolution by comparing them to Arab terrorists, how can anyone take you seriously? Or did I miss the part in my history books where George Washington sent American kids to London to blow themselves up in English pubs?

Very witty and keen observation. Although somewhat racist.
