Isaiah 51:1-6 1 "Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; 2 look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many. 3 The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing. 4 "Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: The law will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations. 5 My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, I come to You on this beautiful September day thanking You for the beauty of the life which surrounds us and for Your comfort when life does not seem so beautiful. It happiness or sorrow You are our constant guide and companion and the peace which that knowledge gives is unfathomable. Thank You Lord for Your grace and mercy towards us and for You unspeakable gift, the gift of Your precious Son, my Lord and my Savior, Jesus Christ. You have blessed me beyond measure and all of my praise and adoration goes to You this day.

Father, I bring before You, once again, our President George W. Bush. Father, his enemies are tremendous and come from all quarters. Surely Satan is trying to twart Your work in him. Father, I pray for him today that Satan would not be successful in his life- that Your truth would rule in his decisions, and that the temptation to choose evil would never prevail in his life. Keep him firmly entrenched in Your Word and guided by Your Spirit. Protect Him with all of Your power and might and confound those who would work evilly in his life and the life of this nation.

To see You honored in this country is our desire. To see Your church return to You en masse is our wish. Lord, move in the life of our President and the life of this nation to make both dreams come true. And I pray all of these things in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the King of all kings. Amen.

Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

We magnify You, O Lord, and we exalt Your name together. Your way is perfect. Your Word is tested and tried; it revives us and gives us life. You are a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in You. We praise You for Your lovingkindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your Word, and You have magnified Your Word above all Your name. Let us bring offerings of praise and thanksgiving before You to honor and glorify You.

Father, we thank You for our nation today, and we hold up in prayer before you President Bush and our legislators. We intercede for these men and women and ask that Your Holy Spirit would rest upon them. Fill their hearts with godly wisdom. Let Your knowledge be pleasant to them, and may discretion watch over them. Deliver them from the ways of evil, and the politics of destruction, which is the devil’s playground. We pray especially for President Bush that You would fill him with eyes to see and ears to hear the truth. Incline his heart to You, Father, that he may know what Your will is in all matters concerning this nation. Give him a discerning ear, that he may not be fooled by the screaming voices that attempt to deceive him. Help him to walk according to Your ways only. Thank You that the heart of our leader is in Your hand and that You are divinely directing his decisions.

Merciful Lord, the old Social Security scare---that favorite tactic of the Democrats, is rearing its ugly head again. Please provide our President with a way out of this dilemma. We know that all of these messages of fear are unfounded, and that they are attempts to lower the people’s confidence in the current leadership. We ask, Father, that You would provide President Bush with divinely inspired solutions to this problem. Help him to be able to respond to these accusations in a supremely effective manner. Give him wisdom regarding the immigration debate, Lord, and most assuredly help him to receive Your vision that will enable him to cultivate a culture of life in this nation.

Show each of us how to become involved in the solutions that this nation needs. Father, you are looking for laborers. Please lead us to ways that we can bring glory and honor to the Kingdom of Light, Great God. We are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture. Hear our prayers this day as we humbly lift them to You in the name of our Precious Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dear Lord, I pray for a good and restful weekend for President and Mrs. Bush. Help them to become even closer to each other as they get closer to You. As they worship you tomorrow, may they be renewed in spirit, and focused on You. What a blessing it is Father, to have this wonderful couple in the White House! Thank You!

Bless the President in the coming weeks as he encounters strong opposition and negative press. Help him to do what is right, and not what is expedient. Help him to stay the course with the assurance that he is following You. Keep him grounded in Your Word, O Lord. Speak to him and grant him understanding of Your will for him and for our nation.

Thank you for giving us a President who honors You by his words and deeds. Thank You for the strength, the joy and the love of the Lord that he shows in his daily life. Lord, may others come to You because of his powerful testimony. Thank You for answered prayer!

Our Father,

We bless Your holy Name on this precious Sabbath, thanking You with our lives for calling us to be reconciled by the blood of the Lamb. What awesome calling You have placed upon the lives of Your remnant, what privilege to bring those assignments to You in prayer. And we continue to intercede on behalf of Your plans through the life of President Bush, trusting the power of Your Spirit, that Your plans will prevail in the White House, the House of Reps., the Senate, throughout Congress,knowing that the government is upon Your Son's shoulders.

Once again Father, I ask that soon You will judge the dark spirits that inspire those who do not know Your word, to call evil good and good evil. May Your mantle of repentance descend upon us from sea to shining sea, that we may turn to You in the day that You may still be found. Thank You for anointing President Bush and his wife to know You, to receive the revelations You have for their lives through the Truth. We pray that Your covering continues upon our V.P. Chenney and grant favor to those whose hearts will open to Your call.

We agree with the scripture of the day, that You would surely comfort Zion. May Israel stay under the shadow of Your wings and soon discover that Your Son is their awaited Messiah. May salvation and deliverance come to the house of Israel and all other cultures living in the Land. May every Jewish person in Jerusalem and the rest of the country be reconciled to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through the renewed covenant by the blood of our great King. We ask all this in Messiah's name. To You Almighty God be all the glory, the entire honor in the congregations, both now and forever without end.

Please protect our President and his family, keep him from spiritual harm, continue to work in his life, and grant him wisdom as he leads our nation. Pray that YOU and others will be saved. Don't pray for a man who can't do thing for you. The Book Revelation tells America's dark and terrible death. She can not be saved.

The Apostle Paul told Timothy to pray for leaders and those who are in authority and said that it pleased God when we do that. This is why we pray. We do not place our faith and trust in man but in God. God can save America, George W. Bush can be an instrument of righteousness in this nation but only if God uses him in that way. It is all about God. Also, it is far from conclusive that the Babylon in Revelation is America. I will say there is a possibility, but I am more apt to believe that America is not in Bible Prophecy- at least not explicitly. I and many of those who pray there will be saved, for we are not subject to God's wrath as His children. We pray for this nation that she will turn to Him, and for President Bush that he will seek God, but our hope is in the Lord and none other.

With that clarification, you are welcome to pray with us for our President as scripture instructs, and for our nation. However, we do not use the prayer thread as a place for biblical debate- so we are very appreciative when people do respect the thread's purpose in that regard. Thank you.
