A drunken elk staggering across a main road caused traffic chaos in Sweden.
The young elk had eaten too many fermented apples and was almost too drunk to walk. It caused snarl ups on the road between Gothenburg and Hallingsjo.
It then collapsed into a stream and had to be rescued by police. They ushered it into a nearby forest where it sobered up.
A local wildlife authority said the calf was most likely a twin and that's why the mother did not respond to its distress calls.
A police spokesman told Swedish newspaper, Goteborgs Post: "It was incredibly cute!"

It wasn't an elk. It was a moose. And it wasn't a moose. It was Janet Reno. And she wasn't drunk. She has Parkinson's. Now don't you feel foolish?

She has Parkinson's That may be true, but Seagrams distills Janet's brand of Parkinson's.

It wasn't an elk. It was a moose. Although we know them as moose, in Sweden they call them elk. I don't think they have an animal called a moose. Regarding elk, it is not uncommon for Swedes to hunt them, kill them and eat them. They are actually pretty good, if you have them cooked by someone who knows what he is doing.
What a country!

Not sure about Sweden, but Europe in general has something called the European red deer, nearly identical to the American elk. There's some question whether red deer and American elk should be considered separate species or not. But, as you say, an elk over there is a moose over here.

I've always been given to understand that alcoholism is Swedens biggest health problem. Theirs was the first country to come up with state mandated designated drivers.

Perhaps there's a line here about NOT drinking and FLYING????The grouse could've become pilots for Northwest Airlines.

A cute, young, drunken twin? If it's Republican, that explains the newspaper coverage.

Big deal! Drunken Elks are always causing traffic problems, when the Lodge meeting lets out, around here.

Is this any better? I apologize for forgetting to close the "small" tag.
If this doesn't work, I don't know what to do.

Closing "small" tag one more time.
