Condit staffer returns to state

Chip Langman, a Modesto native and legislative assistant to Ceres Rep. Gary Condit in Washington, D.C., recently resigned for reasons unrelated to the congressman's troubles.

"I'm sorry about the timing," Langman said Thursday. "I'm sorry if it appears as if I'm jumping ship. Let me be clear: This has absolutely nothing to do with Congressman Condit."

"I can't tell you how much everyone I worked with (in Condit's office) empathizes with them."

He said he continues to track on the Internet a Condit bill, which had exacted plenty of Langman's sweat, that would provide widespread access to flu vaccine.

We'd be all dying like flies of a flu epidemic, I tell ya, if not for these 20 something sons and daughters of "political consultants" on their way to become productive members of the society as, what else, "political consultants."
